redrobin, My heart is breaking for you and your daughter. I pray she will make it through boot camp if this is the right path for her life. My son was in tears before our short call was over as well, and I was heart broken as he's been so upbeat in his letters. Glad tomorrow will bring a new day. God's mercies are new each morning and I'm counting on that for many of us and our SRs!

Redrobin - as far as the RDC's yelling at her telling her boot camp is easy compared to when she is finished. I don't know if I believe that. It makes me think of when i was in the Nursing Program. Some older, more seasoned nurses would feel the need to "eat their young" and tell us that we have it made in nursing school. It doesn't get hard til we become real nurses. I will never forget those comments because it is not true. Being in school with mean clinical instructors is the hardest thing ever (considering I had a day job and 3 kids along with college). Always walking on egg shells, afraid of being kicked out of the program, instructors looking for reasons to write us up.... those comments are just scare tactics. I hope she realizes that.  I'm sure the Navy is hard work, but boot camp is especially hard.

redrobin- I am so sorry to hear that. i know girls are probably a lot more likely to show emotion than my son is. He kept his comments to a minimun- the RDC's yell at them at all times. Someone is always screwing up so they have to do push-ups, etc.  I would be absolutely heart broken if my child called me crying. I did ask him again, - do you regret joining the Navy. He said no, he does not. thank God!

Squeekerz, you are such a sweetheart, thinking of the moms before yourself!  Such selflessness.  Thank you.

Yay for all you moms that have heard from your sons!!!  I hope he can call both his mom and I. If not, I'm actually starting to want him to talk to his mother, 'cause I can see how much you all care about your children!  :D

My son called also (ship 09/div 206). Sounded great. He said they are now displaying their division flag. It is strange but exciting to hear how serious he is becoming. Now that he has called I dont have anything to feel anxious about LOL

But... O.O  My recruit is 09/207.  I want a call from him!!!  -flails and stares at phone intensely-

I think for a lot of recruits they have to remove wisdom teeth because if they go in a submarine, the pressure could do very bad things if the wisdom teeth are still in.

My son call tonight, ship 9 div 206. He sounded very upbeat and happy. The chow is good and commanders are getting nicer. He had his wisdom teeth removed this week. Does anyone know why?

Some of us in 205 got calls between 6 & 6:30.  I felt so sorry for my son b/c it took until 6:24 to get anyone of us on the phone.  I won't even go into why, but I feel so sorry for him (& for myself) but more for him b/c his letters have sounded so upbeat, but he's been sick this weekend and not getting through to us for this 30 minutes of talk really bummed him out.  I'm praying he can shake it off and get back to his positive outlook.  I think he adapted pretty well early on and this getting sick discouraged him.  I know several of your sons have been sick or hurt, so it's nothing they haven't been through themselves.  Hope to hear some great news posted tonight as some get phone calls.
