Regarding chapel, I was thrilled in my son's letter written Mother's Day to see him say he had just gotten back from chapel...  I almost cried.  I had resisted asking in the letters I sent him if he'd gone to chapel ....I knew he'd wanted a particular Bible to take to boot camp and we'd gotten it, but my concern was that he stay/draw close to God, not just make his folks happy by going to chapel.  I don't know if he went this week, but if there's a contemporary service there and he went, I'm sure he enjoyed it.  Sunnyb, I'm hoping your son finds his way there during boot camp, but more, I'm praying he leans on God and realizes that the strength and protection you are praying so diligently for him and all our recruits is coming from our mighty God.  God bless you today, Sunnyb, as you encourage others wherever you are!

to Linda--i tried to reach you with a private chat message, but you must not still be online.  no matter WHAT your son is trying to do or be, he can never, never get away from the prayers of God's people.  So keep praying and choose your words carefully.  The things they are all going through right now might be the very means that God chooses to use to show them their need of Him.

From my understanding there are several different types of services for the recruits to choose from on Sundays. :-)

Linda, I read on the Christian group, one mom saying about a Christian Contemporary service that her son went to at boot camp. It was a cool God story. He wasn't the kinda guy to go to church at home, but was encouraged by this service so much that it really strengthen him as they spoke to the very things he felt he was going through. Now he loves it and can't wait to go each week.! ~keep in mind this is second hand info and my take on what I read..~
I mentioned it to my son, but he said he wasn't able to check it out yet, but thought he would. He said there are so many things they have to get done on their down days on Sunday.
