ckwinn - I know how you feel.  Did you check out the RTC Facebook page?  I found two pictures of my son ( used the zoom to find him :-)).  It's not the same as being there, but better than nothing.  One of the other sailor's let him use his cell phone to call home.  That was so thoughtful.  Is your sailor flying out right away or is he waiting like mine?  Mine flies out Mon. for SC.  I'm praying for you, Mommabee, KC'smom, Squeekerz, Audrey and the others whose sailors couldn't make PIR or who couldn't be at PIR for their sailors.

Angel/Audrey:  Hang in there, ladies...I know you have such mixed feelings reading about the excitement here...but remember...the ultimate goal is for your SRs to become sailors...and they will.  Prayers continue for you....

fa4airtran:  I never thought of that, but how true that the new sailors would get goosebumps too!  They have been practicing for PIR...but with empty bleachers!  To come into the hall with such applause and cheering....wow...must overwhelm them I never asked my sailor after PIR how he felt when he walked in...I know he said he just looked straight ahead the entire time to keep his focus during the whole ceremony!  HA!  Never even saw us (nor we him) until after PIR.  But...neat that it is a goosebump experience for both families and sailors!  HOOYAH!

Audrey,You are not alone,

I know how you must feel, I am going through the same i have my moments when I get so emotional and start to cry.

Reading the graduation stories is actually making it so I think .... well, maybe it'll be ok afterall... if he stays in.    He and I both are just huge family people, and the emotional part of family comes before anything.  We can make due financially however we have to.  In any case...  I support whatever decision he makes. He gives the impression that he could probably be discharged by talking to them about it...  I just wish he'd make his decision soon and tell me! lol

My sailor said they all got goosebumps on their end too, when the door went up & they heard all the cheers. He said they never expected a reception like that.

Heard lots of good stories & got all my questions answered that I have been waiting to ask. Beautiful, emotional day!

Going to O'Hare at 3 am to take his stuff to him as he flys out at 7 am.

Believe me we were thinking about those that couldn't be here today. Good luck & continuing prayers to each & every one of you.

Congratulations to everyone's Sailors. My son graduated last week. This week has been so much easier since we can now have contact via phone, text, email, etc.
Everyone that travelled to GL have a safe trip home.

And to all.....today was an amazing experience!  Everything was so well organized and put together!  It's such a overwhelming feeling when those doors go up and you see them marching in, so polished, so refined.  For the ones that are delayed, know that it will all be worth it in the end!  Be proud that they've done so well, so many didn't make it this far.

@mynavyguy....no, I was explaining to Squeekerz what MA meant, lol!  My daughter actually wanted that classification when she joined, but there weren't any slots available.  But she really lucked out with AECF, and especially getting FC (Fire Controlman).  She will be staying at GL for A school.
