Mommabee, I'm so excited that your son knows he's going to Japan!  Wow!  That's pretty cool.  So glad he's feeling better too.  Guess you'll start saving up for a visit to Japan one day?

Ari'sMom:  I agree with what Lala said...take it and you can always take it back home if need be.

Ari'smom- I would take her cell and charger and if she has one her laptop. Maybe a few pair of her own undies, they hate those granny panties lol. Or she may buy new ones during PIR weekend. Other than that you can pretty much mail anything else she wants once you get back home. It is usually a couple of weeks before they are allowed civilian clothes so those can wait. I hope this helps :-)

diannep:

She calls herself a Grad n Go but she is going to A school is in Great Lakes.  I know this is a stupid question, but I have written to her several times asking her what I should bring of hers if anything, and she writes back she doesn't know yet.  I don't know about the rest of you but everyday seems longer and longer until I can see her again at PIR.  She sent another letter the other day, if they pass their weapons test on Thursday, they get to make a phone call home!  I am going to be on edge all day Thursday.  I am praying for all of your SRs that have been sick or injured.  She says she is trying to reach E3 before the end of Boot CAmp and can't wait to start her Navy Career.  If anyone can answer about what to bring for them I would so appreciate it.

Got a quick 5 min call from my SR last night.  Since he is in the pact program he was assigned to a ship already..his ship is in Japan!!  He is sooo excited.  He is still sick, but on meds and feeling better.

KCsMom:  Prayers continue for all of the SRs who are injured, sick, or not passing part of their PFA!  Let this just be a bump in the road for them...in their journey to become sailors!

Also, at Pianomom'as request, an update: my son is really really bummed out. Understandably. He is not in pain and he is getting water physical therapy. Found out it's not his ankle as I've been saying, the doctor is calling it his foot bone, and it's also the same foot that I injured!!  Talk about sympathy pains!!  He is estimated to be there 8-10 weeks extra. He was not allowed to get his picture taken with his division, as he was supposed to move to his new ship that day. Instead he sat and watched. He volunteered to do laundry during the days, otherwise he would have nothing to do but dust his boots. They don't even get a book to read.  He is afraid that he has a chance of being discharged medically and doesn't want that to happen. He met one guy that had a similar fracture and was sent home. Another guy with similar fracture that graduated. I pray for complete healing.

Pianomom- my son called today from RCU (for the injured). I think your son may have been his bunk mate. I know your son's division goes to 204 to sleep. I was telling him about someone that was unable to float for the whole 5 minutes (as I said my middle son just tried it recently for a downproofing class and couldn't do it). 'KC' said his bunk mate and one other guy couldn't get the 5 minute float. One was only able to float 1 minute and i think he said the 2nd person could do it 3 min (last he heard).  In RCU he is with all the people who have been ASMOED after not passing the swimming test or running test and could not move on with their division. So, apparently your son is NOT ALONE!!  They have a whole section for these people. I hope he does get the whole 5 minutes though. Praying for your boy.

pianomom:  You described my son when describing yours  "...even though in the last couple of years he would drive us crazy, we still miss him."

Funny how that happens.  I think it is part of them really growing up and separating from us...a push and pull thing.  Push them away, pull them back, yadda yadda!  I was ready for my son to leave for bc, as was he...but I cried all the way back to my house after leaving him.  Must just be a maternal thing...
