A few comments for this Saturday morning:

Do you girls realize they'll be shipping to their A schools 2 weeks from today?!!  PIR is so exciting, but to think they'll be moving on to the next phase within a reasonable length of time is amazing!

pianomom - maybe "on the flag" means he's carrying a flag??

re: Qtips - my son refers to them as "Qtip crack" b/c he was so addicted to them after his shower.  Wonder if his addiction has been resolved enough to do without in the future!  lol

** sent my son some funny mail today  - loved what one N4M said yesterday about sending the letter as if written by her son for him to sign and return. : )

I was walking around doing Sat chores at my house and thought of 3 different things I would get him to help me with if he were here - so I made him a "To Do" list (longer than just the 3) and put it in the mailbox : D.  Hope he'll get a kick out of it instead of his usual long mama-letter.

Have a great Saturday!

I'm excited.  I should be getting a call from my SR today.  Hopefully he can get ahold of me this time.  Last Saturday he called 8 times but my phone never rang. D:  I sent his mom a message on FB telling her the home phone number here, just in case he can't get through again. :P

But... nyaaa!  I can't wait to talk to him.  I wanna know how his legs are doing and what they said on Wednesday at his appointment with the doctors.

If your SR is in 931 and said he is in a parade div. And your on facebook, check out the sight (Naval Station Great Lakes) you will find their pictures of the Memorial day parade they were in this weekend.

thanks mks:  you can only see my SR's eyebrows over that big base drum. But fun to dream! I did find a newscast and saw them marching on a video, but when I went back to find it again to send you the link, I couldn't find it. I think I looked another half an hour!  darn..~

My recruit just wanted to know who was in the NBA playoffs and what was happening with the NFL. I copied some news reports from ESPN wrote a note on the back and sent it to him.

I found lots of info about sub school and all the school that is coming up for my almost sailor. BESS, ATT, TCNO. I am not going to mention what is that far off. All the recruits have to stay focused on what is required of them in the next 12+ days.

We pray that they stay focused on the tasks that are set before them. For those that are sick we pray for their recovery knowing that Gods plans are not always evident right now, but he is in control.

I would really like to send them a case of bleach and instructions for "wash in, wash out". I'm sure the RDC's would not see my humor!!!!!

meryl:  One of the things that RTC personnel concentrate on the hardest is to make sure that the SRs stay hydrated.  So don't worry...he is being watched over very carefully.

meryl:  It is amazing how Navy bootcamp "flushes out" their appreciation for all their families/friends have provided them in their life.  It is like true confession time!  It is true...when you are "without", you appreciate and miss it.  I think it is a wonderful part of bootcamp...that not only do the SRs learn to appreciate everyone, but they now can verbalize it to us.  It sure meant the world to me when my sailor did this during bc.  I got tears in my eyes...he told me over the phone...several different times.  Homesickness is such a part of the process...but it gets much better during A School, I promise you that.
