KC'sMom: Sounds like you have a wonderful boss and knows your heart and knows you were just having "a moment." Thank goodness! I got "silence" from my apology to the one I offended....but this was a cyberspace situation so whatever...Hang in there with your son....he'll get there but just needs lots of letters and encouragement. Remind him that once he becomes a sailor, doesn't matter how he got there...just that he DID! I think your son's dog is leaving you "presents" around the house to let you know how much he misses your son! :-)
tysmom and meryl: Thank you so much for the kind words. It is amazing how the Lord heals hearts that are the most broken...and life goes on---just in a different way.
tysmom: BESS is Basic Enlisted Submarine School and they do have a graduation.
Ok, Donna; TOO FUNNY about the racey sexy email to your hubby going to your son by mistake. Would have loved to have seen your son's face as he was reading it (mine would have been going....WHAT????? GROSS!)....we moms have too much multi-tasking going on.
Connie: I felt very badly about the "disastrous" one. I was speaking unkindly, something I try not to do but was hormonal that day, I guess....that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Accidentally sent it to the person I was speaking unkindly about! YIKES! As soon as I hit "send," I realized my mistake...too late. Not something I am proud of...mainly for "speaking" the words to begin with. I knew the lesson that God was teaching me...and it was a hard and embarrasing one!
Thanks for the kind words, Connie! Right back atcha!
Oh meryl, I'm so sorry your son has been so sick! There's so much we just don't know that goes on. When my son got to call Wed night, sounded like his "cold" was back too, but didn't say anything about it. That tells me he hasn't had the fever this time to go with it. I will be praying for your son to be able to heal quickly, OR to get some much needed rest and finish STRONG with a later DIV. NOTHING wrong with that, right Diannep?!
meryl I would tell him exactly what you said at he end of your note to us....his health is worth more to you than anything. My son said they take very good care of the recruits medically He was on Light Limited Duty for cold and ear inf. If you were planning on going to PIR and would be able to change to whatever his new date would be let him know that. You can encourage him in whatever situation he is in....can always go to your local dollar store and find a funny "sick" card.
diannep..... your husband/animal story brought tears to my eyes...still there yet...I am so sorry for your loss. You are sooooo helpful and have been a blessing to so many and I know it is not just this group. I know my son is headed to Groton so I am sure there is a group connected with the school. When I learn more then I can pass my knowledge on to others. What is BESS graduation? I read that somewhere.
Got a letter from my injured son. He is pretty sad about leaving his division. And I know my son - he would not tell me how he really feels so for him to go into detail about it in a letter, I know he is devestated. Plus he said the dr. gave him an estimated 10 weeks healing time. It will be fall before he finishes. He taked quit a bit about how depressing it is to see his division moving on without him.
Meryl- I feel your pain - I don't care about the date so much as I want to make sure he heals properly with no chronic pain or further fracture. I don't want him to be in pain right now. I hope your SR gets better soon and is keeping hydrated.
Pianomom- my foot.... Ugh! No more karate for me. I am working/ limping and with a brace. I will insist I get an MRI next week.
Oh, and to all the dog lovers.... our dog "lucky" is 10 but acts like a puppy. He officially belongs to my son. He's a golden retriever and really cute and happy all the time. But, we are having to keep him outside a lot right now b/c he has been leaving us "suprises" in the house over the past year. If we're not home, he can't be in the house. That's why I say we're not real fans of him right now. hee hee.
Love the stories of the texting incidents! Donna- shame on you for "sexting" your son! hahahaa. I love it. My son probably would have DIED!
About 6 months ago I accidently sent an irrate text message about my BOSS, to my BOSS. I was certain I would be fired over it. Things worked out though and I am still there.
