Pianomom, I can relate!  I've gotten into trouble for that kind of thing too, ugh.

Diannep and KC's Mom, my son was 9 when we got our rescue Labrador, Jip, (after much pleading from my son).  Jip is now my constant companion and seems to understand why I get these sad moments during the day.  He's been a great comfort to me and I hope, to him.

yes, meryl, i think an after PIR group sounds good.  diannep, i was just sitting here reading out loud:"SWALLOW OF ME?" and thinking, man, she must be in a hurry.

but i do it all the time too!  who KNOWS what things i have thrown out to cyberspace!

in fact, i texted a private message to somebody the other day while i was in my car (NOT driving) and sent it to the wrong person.  could have been a disaster.

KC'sMom:  You need to "bond" with the dog...  :-)  This is your "furry son" now so BOND!  HA!  I have a rescue who is now 8 yrs old.  My sailor son brought him home almost 8 yrs ago...I said no, but of course...here he is, 8 yrs later.  Only 4 mos old at the time (brought home from a vet clinic he was doing community service hours in).  So, I knew I had to love this dog...I am a huge dog lover normally, but this poor guy was just in bad shape and not so appealing at the time.  Swallow of me, I know. So each morning, I put his little 17 lb body (he is now 75 lbs!) on my shoulder and hugged him, telling him what a sweet boy he was.  He just melted on my shoulder.  I had to force myself to do this at first...but by the 3rd day, I can geniunely say I LOVED this pup!  And now he is my best buddy...along with his rescue "brother."  Soooo.....work on the bonding, ok?  You can DO IT!  By the way, dogs can sense when you aren't too thrilled with them and may perform accordingly...they really are amazing telepathetic creatures!  :-)

Connie(MemphisBelle) is wonderful, all of you who have sailors going to Pensacola.  A great veteran mom who will be so helpful to those of you with the Pensacola connection.  Ask her anything!  She's the best!  She posted last night on here for you guys with the link to the group!

There is nothing quite like the emotional bond you all get when you connect during bootcamp.  Something about "misery loves company" just really bonds you!  I hope you start an "after PIR" group...and hopefully many will stay on it.  You have to put effort into it because what I have found since I have been on this site is that once ladies are back in touch with their new sailors, they don't visit the group as much anymore.  So really try and stay in touch!  The group my son was in was so "dead" that the creator deleted it...  :-(

Stock the mailboxes ladies.... I just got 2 letters..  Sounds happy, up beat..good Yeah!  He said since he is in a performing division they played in a Memorial Day parade, and another one coming up, along with playing in 3 graduations. Said it was nice to get off base. He wrote me a list of foods he was craving, haha! Big oatmeal cream pies! Steak, Pizza..

Said they shot guns, well that will make an young man happy. He stunk at first, shot a hold in the targets head. He thought it was a good shot, but they took the gun out of his hand and yelled at him. Opps.. got to try again and passed.
