Oh my gosh, the graduation ceremony was awesome! I cried a little too much but just couldn't help it. Linda, it was so good to see you at the Navy Lodge and meet your handsome son and your mother in-law.  I wish the very best for your son as he trains in San Antonio.  So glad he's close to home.  My son surprised us by announcing his engagement to his girlfriend.  He left for Groton on Saturday morning and will start Sub School on July 3rd.  Ladies, it's been so wonderful getting to know you all.  My prayers to all your sons and daughters who graduated and prayers for those who have recruits recuperating.  Love you all!

KC'sMom:  Yes, that is what I have always heard too about RCU being depressing.  My son was asmoed too and said it was very depressing and he really wanted to get out of there and back to training (thankfully he was only there for a week).  SO important to write extra letters when they are asmoed to help keep their spirits up.  And get others to write also...anything to help them keep their focus!  I think they get encouraged each time one of their bunkmates is returned to training...although the opposite may occur when anyone gets discharged.  Up and down emotionally....lots of encouragement for these SRs!

@audrey--so thankful to hear that news!!!   God is GOOD!!

I hope your SR heals quickly and doesn't lose his drive!!

It still makes me blush to hear that the other men in the division find me inspirational because they all love the pictures I draw on the back of his envelopes. lol

My mom arrived home from graduation and said it was wonerful!!  I was able to see pictures that she took and heard stories.  Best part was talking to my sailor and him calling yesterday to talk to his brother for the first time during his graduation party (for which there were about 100 people here!!).  Nice that I can now text him, and talk to him, at least until 07/23 when he leaves for Japan.  He took 2 showers in her hotel room and just wanted to get away from GL for awhile!  Good luck to all you ladies and your sailors!!

Well, I can't blame anyone for their decision to leave after suffering from 5 fractures. I do know that apparently he is not alone. My son gave me the impression a lot of people seem to lose their driving force to finish once they end up in RCU.  That place sounds SO depressing.

lol Very true.

He said he finally made up his mind though.  If he is able, he wants to come home.  He wants to get married, get a place to live together, and go back to school.  :D  I hope we're able to do that... it'd be awesome.  And even though he'll be leaving the Navy, he has learned so much and matured just from the short time he's been there!! :)
