We are leaving for SC on Friday to see our sailor.  I have not seen him since 4/25/11.  I'm already packed and am just counting down the hours!

KC's mom - so glad he is enjoying A school. To say it is like living in a college dorm is a good analogy. Scuba sounds cool. My sailor said that there are so many opportunities to take classes in just about everything & the Navy picks up the tab. I didn't know if you were serious but I, too, wish I had joined the military but probably the Air Force.  Hope all continues well for him -- he DESERVES it!

my son has been at his A school for 2 weeks and is now able to have weekends off and sleep as late as he wants to. He was able to wear civilian clothes for the first time this past Friday since April 20, 2011!! His A school base is 1 block away from the ocean in Monterey. Now that he can leave the base he is going to start scuba lessons on the weekends. He has sent me pictures of seals hanging out on the rocks. He is really excited about that, as he is a huge animal fan (he was a Vegan before joining the Navy). I think the seals are amazing b/c we don't have any in Md. beaches. I think he has the life. A school lasts 15 months so I will definitely make sure I get out there before then. He said A school life is a lot like when he lived at his college dorm.  I think it sounds great. Wish I did it when I was his age.  (I've come a long way from when I was begging him not to join!!  hahaha)

I've been dying to know how everyone's sailor is doing - so glad you asked fa4airtran!

How is A School going for everyone? My sailor might be done next week or the week after & since he is in the reserves will be home after that! He is so enjoying Navy stuff, however, he said he might pick up extra duties abroad. But said wants to come home & sleep late for a week!

that is wonderful, KC's mom!  and i was thinking my son had a bum rap because he was delayed 2 weeks from starting a-school, then had a grad date, which got bumped another week.  it's so confusing to me how the Navy does things.  i guess i was spoiled with my other son going through Army basic right before my sailor--knowing pretty much lots of his stuff that was going on.  thanks for sharing!  hope all is going great now!

It's been too long since I've been here.  KC's mom, tears came to my eyes when I read your son is now a Sailor.  Congratulations!  This has made my day!  Hello to everyone.  I hope all is well!  My son will be graduating from BESS in Groton on August 26.  I've got a lot of reading to do right now on this site.  Bless you all.

Congratulations KS's mom!

Haven't been on this site for awhile but been reading about your ordeal.  So glad your son has become a US Sailor!  My daughter is currently in GL in school and

I am going to visit her for the weekend in two weeks.  Can't wait.  Isn't it so much better we can talk to them on the phone.  Congratulations again.  My prayers were with you and your son.
