OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I notice 814 seemms to make frequent calls & theyre long calls too. Thats wonderful...I remember my sons recruiter saying "calls are a privilege based on the merit of the entire division, its up to you to stand up to the SRs that are screwing around bec they'll ruin for everyone. " so maybe (hopefuly not) thats the case as to.why some of us aren't receiving wkly calls ...personally, I wonder if my SRs calling exgirlfriend instead. I know hes cut my calls short only to call her and get her voicemail. SMH :/

Has anyone gotten calls from 932? It has been three weeks since the last call. So hoping to get a call this weekend. Happy for all the moms who have had calls.

Finally got his letters! Gosh I love that man, after being together for 8 years I wasn't sure how it was going to be when he was gone, but he makes me feel so loved just with a letter. Is it greedy to still be praying for a phone call too. ;)hope everyone has a great day. :)
