Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So glad you are enjoying it, Lala, and stay off of the interstates!  :-)

Good Morning All !

Hi everyone, still on vacation with my daughter and grand baby in CA. We went to the Zoo today and had a great time.

The best part of CA is by far the weather. Warm days but not too hot, always a breeze blowing, cool nights and no humidity and not a drop of rain since I got here. The worst part, OMG the interstates!!!! It is so hard to know where you are going even with GPS because the exit numbers are not clearly marked. There is no warning or signs saying what exit is coming up. I don't know how you all get to where you are going lol Tomorrow or today depending on what time zone you are in right now lol is our Southern CA/San Diego Navy Mom Meet and greet. We have 25+ people coming and I am so excited to meet them. :)

TMansmom:  The calls are so random and if his division calls, but he has watch, he may miss it (sometimes they let those on watch call later, but not always).  Hoping this is the weekend for you to get your call.  Don't leave your phone for a moment! :-)

Comment by diannep on June 6, 2014 at 11:40pm

They cannot wear "civies" (civilian clothes) until they "phase up" at A School, which takes 2-3 weeks.  But they can take some with them in the Navy backpacks to A School....trade off at the airport, or after Liberty for those sailors staying in GL for A School.  Since your son, TMansmom, is staying in GL, you can bring all he has on the list since he should be able to take all of this back to base (i.e., doesn't have to fit in Navy backpack on airplane).

Really happy for all of the moms who got to talk with their SRs today,so exciting. Id be smiling from ear to ear. Like tmansmom, its been 3 wks since I last spoke to my SR. Ive only spoke to him twice since hes been in bc, each call only about 10 or 15min. I stopped expecting a call at this pt, happy to recieve my wkly letters. If I get a call before the 17th I'll be elated. Dropped a 2nd letter this wk in the mailbox yesterday.it feels good to write him, but itll be the greatest when I finally get to hug him. Keep your head up Tmansmom, this is our navy mom test, we gotta stay strong for our sailors. I know easier sd than done.

My SR was able to talk to me for about a half an hour.
