OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My Son graduates as well in 32 days! Is nice to know I'm not the only Mom counting the days till I see my Sailor! Even though he called I still cry every time I look at his picture.

What a gorgeous day in Eastern NC!  So happy that we got calls last night!  She was excited for her fitting today of her dress uniforms.  Hope everyone has a great day!  We're half way there!!

Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons--I live in San Diego area and would like to attend the meet and greet unless I'm at my son's PIR. 32 more days!

Congrats on the calls, I know that makes you feel so much better :)

Good morning everyone, My internet was down for two days last week because of storms and when it was finally back up I could not get on this site at all. It was so weird. I ended up having to change my password but couldn't remember the password for my old email I used when joining this site. What a mess lol. I hate having so many passwords lol. I hope you all had a great weekend.

We have our sailor/daughter and grand baby home on leave for a few more days. I can't believe it has been almost 4 years since she joined. She will be getting out of the Navy the end of this month and will be headed to CA soon to join her husband who is also in the Navy and based there. Once she is there she will join the Navy Active Reserves so that will be a whole new experience for her and really for me too. My SIL re-enlisted for 6 more years so it will probably be a long time before they have a chance to move back to the east coast and closer to home. I am going to CA to visit them in June, my first flight ever :-\ lol

and if you live in the San Diego area let me know. We will be having a meet and greet for Navy Moms/families while I am there in June :)

Got to talked to the husband in Div 205 for 35 mins. So happy and blessed!

Congrats on the phone calls today!

tromar:  Yes, many times after meeting with the Classifier, they may be put with a different job.  Either because their original one is now overmanned, or like in your SR's case, there is a condition that the SR may have that makes them ineligible for their original job.  Yes, sounds like he will be in Pensacola for training, but maybe you can make a trip down there to see him?  A nice place to visit!  Beautiful beach!  :-)

Just got off the phone with my daughter - div 203 - it was maybe 10 mins but it was wonderful.  She is extremely tired - they all had a rough day yesterday but she said she made it through it.  She's got a cold.  She said everyone is getting sick there. She said they all made it through yesterday and are on track for graduation.  She said tomorrow they are gettig fitted for their dress uniforms.  She can't wait for me to see her in hers.  She said she is so proud of herself and everything she is accomplishing.  We couldn't be prouder of her too.
