Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Personal items for those moving over to GL A School can return with your sailors after they have Liberty. They will have Fri/Sat/Sun of Daytime Liberty and can return with personal items anytime from Fri night forward.

Remember that the phones and other personal items have to be passed off to your sailors at the airports if they are flying out. They cannot return to RTC with them. You can ship other personal items to their A School since they have limited space to take items with them. They will have a large seabag, garment bag (uniforms)....both checked luggage, and a backpack. They must keep up with all of their luggage themselves, so bringing an "extra bag" for them is not a good idea. But whatever they can fit into their existing luggage, they can take! They will not be able to wear civilian clothes until they phase up though. But it wouldn't hurt to have a few waiting for them when that happens.

Oh, also I recommend all get the active duty accounts at NFCU because they also give them free checks. Although, most of us don't use them much anymore, but they do offer them free! :)

If they have navy federal account and it's a active duty checking then their deposits will be there three days prior to pay days on 1 and 15.
Yes, then can have their phones and a computer after boot camp.

i booked my hotel with Navy Lodge. I have not booked my flight yet. Maybe I'll check Southwest Airlines if they don't charge if you re-schedule.

Thank you diannep for the hope and yes ma'am I already have everything booked and I'm set to fly back home Sunday evening. So glad I joined.. Now I don't feel so lost . Thank you again
