~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Most divisions start out within around 88 SRs, give or take.  They will lose some to "delays in training (asmoed)" which means they should join later PIR groups to finish....or.....to discharge.  They will also pick some other SRs up in their group who had been delayed in training but are now ready to resume, but they never seem to get back up to their original number of SRs.  It varies by group.

Sadly, there is no one to contact about the form letter...other than writing to your SR to ask about it.  If you call RTC, they will tell you to ask your SR.  They decide who to send the form letter too and if one doesn't arrive, they can't send another.

However, your SR can confirm all graduation info to you.  Plus we can supply you with most info you will need from the form letter....but you WILL need the password from the form letter to download your gate pass for PIR....which you need if you drive onto the base.  Your SR should know this password since he/she writes it in the form letter.

There is also lots of info in the Family Guide on the RTC site.  Look above and to the right on this page under the PAGES section.....ellen has supplied links there to those pages.  Please be sure to read through the info.

Jeanette:  Could anyone else have received the form letter?  They only send out one.

No harm in booking hotels since there is usually no problem cancelling/changing reservation up to day before or day of arrival.

As far as time with the sailors after PIR:

If staying in GL for A School, they move over there shortly after PIR is over.  Takes a few hours.  They then call you, probably with a borrowed cell from a student already there or they will use their phone card, and you pick them up there.  They have daytime Liberty through the weekend, returning to base each night probably around 9 or 10.

Those flying out most likely will be bussed to the airports in the middle of PIR night to wait for flights on Saturday.  You can meet your sailors at the airport to wait with them....take ID and get an airlines gate pass to wait until their plane departs.  They will not have their actual flight info until right before PIR.

We suggest that those of you flying book on Southwest Airlines, if possible, into either Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ drive to GL depending on traffic).  No change fee if you have to change/cancel flights, 2 bags check for free.
