Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 229 and 230
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

I booked at the navy lodge too Navywifefalon.I do plan to go to sarge's meet and greet too
yea I heard that if you want good photos of your SR sit in the balcony but if you want to be able to see your SR up and close if there are going to be in the front then sit up front but yea We dont know for sure where exactly our SR will stand in the line up but I will take photos from where ever I am sitting along as i get to be with my SR that is all the matters lol If we sit in the front we can go down to see them first thing after liberty call :)
I didn't even think about that! Less traffic getting to my husband.. I'm all for that! Do you know if the Navy Lodge has a shuttle to RTC?
I was tolled you can call a shuttle service which I am going to do for PIR day cause that way there we can get around all of the traffic.I was tolled to ask the front desk and they should have all that info of shuttle services there I also was tolled it is around like $3 per person and they bring you right to the base and then they will pick us up at the same place. We wont be the only PIR families using it so I assume they will know when to come get us again but all we have to do is call the service if not ...also My SR will be staying at GL for A school and I read somewhere on this site that all SR's that are staying in GL for A school have to go check in after PIR which it said could take up to 3-5 hours depending. So Based off that I am most likely heading back to the navy lodge with my family until my SR lets us know he is all checked in and ready to go.
Navy Lodge doesn't use the regular shuttle service (actually taxis acting as shuttles for PIR), but Sarge has his own shuttle service and he will pick you up. You can sign up for this at his MeetandGreet or contact him at 847 212 0246. He just asks that you all wait until 2 weeks before PIR to contact him to book, unless you have questions. He does this each and every week for PIR so stays busy. I would suggest if you want to contact him now, wait until a Monday or Tues when he isn't quite so busy. You can also find his page on this site under MEMBERS tab up top and then put in Old Sarge. He has contact info on there.
For the hotels that use the other shuttles service (Ramada has their own shuttle), you usually sign up for the time you want when you check in but ask your hotel about this.
Both Sarge's and the other shuttle service are $3/pp each way. Sailor can return with you, if not moving over to GL A School base, because that happens shortly after PIR and like mainewife said, it can take several hours.
thanks diannep! I will put his number in my phone!
Do you know if the seats for PIR are just first come first serve?
They are. When you go in, there will be bleachers to the left, with sections for each ship/division. With 229/230, I *think* that they will end up forming towards the far end of the building, where the hangar door is. Don't quote me on it, though, it's been four years lol.
They had tables set up with bottled water, shirts, and other stuff to buy. The water bottles are cool - RTC logo on them! I still have mine from Chris's PIR. It's on my desk with some silk flowers in it :D
