Hello, My son is in the same Ship/Div. He's going to San Diego for his basic. I'm still trying to figure out how to join groups.

My 23 yr old son left yesterday for Great Lakes BC. I'm praying my sons will get to see each other Sunday in Church. I'm emotional wreck.

2sailorsonsmom --

Welcome!  I've been without Internet and power for a couple of days.  I went to some hot spots to get my work done (I work from home usually) but had no time for anything personal.

I can't imagine having 2 sons away at the same time -- one is hard enough.

I've only heard enough from my SR that I feel he is ok.  I guess that's the best it's going to get for now.

I too have been an emotional wreck from time to time and I feel like I'm in this all alone.  Many of the ladies here seem to have it all under control and seem to have had a lot of experience with military service.  I haven't.  Both of my parents have passed away.  I'm divorced from my SR's father and my current husband does the best he can, but really can't identify with how it feels to send your first-born off into the world.

Is there something I can do?

Hi, MNSunshine.  Hang in there.  I know how you feel.  We are so used to being able to check in with our kids at any moment to see how they are doing and can tell by their voices if everything is OK.  Now it's as if they have (almost) disappeared from the face of the earth with little to assure us that all is well (or not).  I keep hearing that no news is good news, so I guess we can be grateful for that, even though it can be nerve wracking.  Keep busy and keep positive thoughts in your head.  We are more than halfway through it!  We will survive the next (less than!) 4 weeks.  I'm sure of it!
