Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am so glad to finally have more info for my SR. I look forward to spending the next 7 weeks with all of you and maybe even meeting some of you at PIR.

OK, now it should all be fixed. If there is anything else I have missed it is dianneps fault, that's the story and I am sticking to it.

Oops I should have the right year for the countdown clock too. Shaking my head at my errors today. I'll just blame it on working in the yard in the heat before I did this.

...gracie:  I should say....we N4Moms veterans are on so many different PIR groups at one time...our heads can spin!  Welcome to the group, by the way!

Comment by diannep on May 22, 2013 at 7:34pm

Yep, gracie.  Correct!  The 07/03 PIR group is on a Wed....thanks for catching that!  I'm sure ellen will correct it soon!

Comment by ellen0502 on May 22, 2013 at 7:22pm

We will be posting division discussions for this group as soon as we have confirmation from the RTC as to the number of divisions. It usually takes about two weeks before they get it posted.

In the meantime, get to know each other some of your sailors will go to School together and some may even end up out in the fleet together.

Hang tight ladies (and gentlemen) the ride has just begun!!

Hi!!

Welcome to your PIR group!

My son PIR'd in 04/2012, He is an ET so he stayed in GL for A School. He is currently attending C School in San Diego, and looking forward to getting out to the Fleet in July.

A few other veteran moms that will be joining to help answer questions, offer support, and give you lots of information along the way.

There will be lots of pages posted with information for you along the way. They will be posted as the subjects come up!

Remember there are no dumb questions, so ask away!

Fasten your seatbelts because the next few weeks will be a roller coaster ride, but at the end you are in for the best hug ever!!
