OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 815 and 816

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

No idea... but I'm keeping my phone close so I don't miss the call!

CK, unfortunately there is no order. They like to mix it up.

Just heard from another mom on Facebook that she got a call from her son in DIV 815 that he is now a sailor and that DIV 816 was one of the winners of the Captains Cup (whatever that is).  HOpefully we'll all hear from all our SRs very soon!  Fingers crossed that the next time the phone rings it's my son!

Aha... I guess the congratulations on Face Book were for DIV 816 winning the Captain's Cup then... Oh well, we'll just have to wait some more!

PIR is almost here. Just days until you get to hug your sailor. Don't forget to congratulate those sailors who do not have a family member or friend that was able to attend.

The 800 division enters through the doors last. You will hear the difference in applause and cheers as they are called. The crowd goes wild. A very proud moment. They march very close together and somewhat look alike, so it may seem impossible to find yours, but somehow you will. He may be able to find you in the bleachers, my son saw us. I kept telling my husband he is looking right at us, and he was. Once you spot him, try to keep contact because it is mass chaos as you enter the floor when liberty is called.

Enjoy your weekend, but keep in mind that the goodbyes are not always easy. They now have their cell phones and laptops and that is a wonderful thing. Best of luck to them wherever they are heading. I hope everyone continues to keep in touch.

Hello and welcome to Sarge’s corner.

P.I.R. will come faster than you can imagine. You will need time to plan ahead so your trip can be enjoyable and stress free. I have lived in this area since 1981 and retired from the U.S. Army in 1991 after 21 years of honorable service.

Today’s servicemen and servicewomen are the finest our country has seen in over a century. Our service members are the most talented, most disciplined, most physically and morally fit individuals and come from all walks of life. They joined for a purpose. No one forced them to wear the Armed Forces Uniform. They are all volunteers and I salute them for their willingness to support and defend what we as American’s treasure most, our freedoms.

Please join my wife and I for our meet and greet at the Sundance Saloon every Thursday from 5:15PM to 9:00PM when there is a P.I.R. We are not a commercial venue and we do not own the Sundance Saloon. We are just two good old Americans that believe in supporting our troops day-in and day-out and we have been doing this for the last 2.5 years out of the goodness of our hearts.

At the meet and greet there will be tons of information, ways to save money while in the area, and other goodies you won’t find on other websites or at other meet and greets.

My wife and I are the ones who purchase/make this food for you. We do this each week for each PIR families and friends. The Sundance Saloon doesn’t charge us to rent the space, which is their gift to the Navy families.  I don’t charge you for this food either. It is a free meal; however, if you wish to make a donation to help defray our costs, since this is out of pocket for us, that is greatly appreciated. There will be a donation box at the front of buffet table. This is strictly voluntary on your part. We would love to have you come join us. Since this is a private event, all ages are admitted. Please be responsible and have I.D. ready when ordering from the bar. No one under 21 is allowed to consume any alcoholic beverage.

Here is what you can expect at the meet and greet.

5:15PM  Guests arrive - cash bar

6:15 PM Buffet line is opened. We serve -   Pasta, Fried Chicken, Sausage and Peppers, Meatballs, Olive Garden Bread   Sticks, fruit trays, salad and brownies. During dinner there will be a film on Boot Camp, Battle Stations 21, and the continuous slide show on what to expect this weekend.

6:50 PM - Pledge of Allegiance

7:00 PM - Tribute to veterans and National Anthem

7:10 PM - 8:00 PM - Overview of slides that were shown during dinner including shortcuts to graduation hall which will   save you an hour of waiting on line at Buckley road.

8:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Q & A session and   sign-ups for shuttles to P.I.R.

If you need any additional information contact me at 847-212-0246. You can find me on face-book by searching for “Sarge John L. Spadaro” and feel free to add me as a friend.  God Bless your family and The United States Of America.

GRADUATION IS NOW STREAMING LIVE

Watch our recruits graduate live this Thursday at 0845 Central Daylight Time. Follow the link and join our chat: http://navylive.dodlive.mil/ The video will display under Live Events during broadcast.

It's so wonderful that you do this for us!  We are so sorry to be missing the meet & greet... we won't be arriving until later in the evening... oh well... :(    Thank you for your generosity and support!

Any "I'm a sailor" calls yet?

no sitting here by the phone, waiting and waiting, Div 275 is calling

I know!  Fully expect my son to call my husband, but that's ok too!  Don't forget to ask if they know where they will be standing in the Division at PIR so we can better spot them!

my son told me he was about half way back -its by height - the shortest in the front get to carry the flag

Good to know!  Thank you
