dbonney11, it's so hard to tell one tall, thin, crew-cut, camouflage-wearing recruit from another, especially on the small screen! We had so many "ooh, is that him?" false alarms that we HAD to do something different! Last time around, it helped that I had researched his ship and was able to recognize that the flag with FF-1066 was ship 13's... although no guarantee what div was behind it. Look into the designation for your SR's ship, maybe it will help narrow things down a little. Oh, and you can read names on uniforms a bit better on the TV, too!

whiskeywing, they post the random recruit pictures on the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command facebook page, as well as pics from each week's PIR.

TJR's Proud Mom, I completely agree with you that the phone call helped!  It was so great to hear my daughters voice.  I am glad that I am not the only one checking for those random pics - I feel a little obsessed as I am checking OFTEN. :-) I noticed on another post that the facebook page admin said they would be posting more random pics later in the week -- I'm on the lookout!  I LOVE the idea of projecting the pics to the television.  I almost went blind during the last round of pics looking for my little girl. Let the countdown to PIR begin!

Hope things are going well and/or getting better for everyone! It was four weeks ago today that my son left. Things have definitely gotten easier, especially having finally gotten to talk to him last weekend and hear that things are going well. I find myself now getting more excited about our upcoming trip to Great Lakes, rather than feeling down that he's gone. The discouraging thing right now is that they haven't posted random recruit pictures this week! We hook the laptop up to the TV, and the three of us scour every photo, looking for my son. We have really been looking forward to this weekly ritual; I hope they do get some up soon. But I must admit we all are excited to hear from him again on the 4th. We're halfway there, everyone! PIR is officially THIS MONTH!   :-D

Diannep- that's a good idea!!! I won't have her in my arms she wants to run to daddy (melted my heart when she said that) plus with me being pregnant they don't want me to pick her up with me being high risk :)

Stacey:  You can also place your hand on his shoulder, rest your chin on it, and hug him with the other arm so no makeup gets on his Whites..but if you have your little one in your arms, that would be hard!  :-)
