Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

well it been 18 days and I think the reality is setting in, in the beginning it was exciting I got the I am here call, then the box and last Saturday a call...now nothing the call was so fast it left me more nervous than not getting one and still no letter, knowing he had his teeth pulled is driving me crazy I just want one letter so I can sleep. I seemed to be doing better before, now its really sinking in what this is going to be like when he's at sea and I have to be honest this is awful

My SR called this afternoon. Said he was fine and passed the first set of physical challenges with flying colors. He said the only downside was how incredibly homesick he is - he did say he'd gotten a couple of letters and they helped a lot.

He also told my husband, that he doesn't think that he'll get another chance to call until the "I'm a sailor" call. I hope not but then again, it's up to his RDCs. He's liking the food and there's enough of it. The whole division has had some IT because of a few recruits but he said that they're starting to shape up...which is good.

My son called today and I missed it because I was at a wedding :( But he did call my husband and talk to him....all good. My husband texted me and then we talked on the phone. I think my son is in a "push" division cuz he got to RTC on June 10th, we got the form letter on June 14th and then the following Monday or Tuesday we got the "box". His PIR is 8/1/14.
