Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks for the information about writing. Hopefully I will hear from my SR soon. I miss him so much. Just wanna know that he's doing ok. So looking forward to next few weeks going by quickly.

Still no letter from my son, that's okay I know he must not have very much time, but I can say I have never checked my mail box or used the post office this much in many, many years...lol Sure do hope I get a letter soon!! It's very strange not knowing how he is

No letter(s) from my SR today. I sent out 3 more. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get one. Made myself leave the house today, but started crying over a song on the radio....still by far the hardest thing I've ever gone through.

Also, the mail is held from them for the first 2 weeks of Bootcamp (until Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained) and they can't mail out until that time either. No worries.....they will eventually receive all of the letters you all have sent! But many times, they write their first letters before they receive their held mail, so don't be surprised if the letters say: Why haven't you written? Just know that they most likely received these letters right after they wrote their own.

They can write letters at different times, but can only deposit them in the mail bin on Sunday. So each of you will have your "expected mail" day each week!

Dawnrenee: I have no doubt that many of your son's buddies, either in his division or brother division, will be going to Pensacola. Tons of sailors attend A School there.
