~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

sherrieq: Sounds like he just had some loose change to me that he couldn't keep up there. They can keep their wallets though.
CATHARINE: They update the guest lists about a week before PIR, so he will finalize the names then!
Dawnrenee: Not sure of a hotel close enough to walk, but Navy Lodge is only about a mile away, so the drive would be easy. You could also stay there and use Sarge's shuttle service to PIR ($3/pp each way) and not worry about driving. His service is offered from most hotels in the area (but you have to contact him directly 847 212 0246). He holds a MeetandGreet for all of you the night before PIR.
Good Morning All !
sherrieq,
there was change in my sons box too, but I just assumed it meant it fell out of his pants...idk. what did your husband say the special message was?
proudnavymom90 it is best not to start individual DIV groups on this site or on facebook. Those kinds of groups usually have very few members and those who start them don't know enough about opsec or the time to monitor the group for it to be a safe place to comment. On this site Ellen will set up a discussion for each DIV or Brother DIV's and everyone can get to know each other a little better there. But it is important to come to this discussion to post questions and look for what is being posted because we don't have enough time to post everything in the DIV discussions. On the facebook group I posted below it is basically the same. Stick with the main wall and private chats can be started for those from the same division :)
Is there a FB for Ship 02 dive 938 PIR 8/1? is there a group here for that division as well or just one group for all 900 8/1 pir divisions I am trying to see if anyone else has a SR on my sons ship
Becky, here is the link for your PIR facebook group. Please know that we are a closed group and you must request to join and you may get a message asking for your ship and DIV number so we can be sure you are joining the right group. I am an admin there as well as helping here on N4M;s So please please please be sure and stay active in both groups. There will be some here who are not on facebook and some on facebook who are not on this group and we want you all to be able to meet as meet other families from your DIV as possible. Also please be care what other facebook groups you join. Some are started by people who don't know or follow OPSEC and some have way too much drama :/ I will look for you there and we are happy to have you all join us :) My profile pic also has ribbons in it and my first name is Lora :) Here's the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/484662688331431/
Great! 4 guests allowed and our SR writes 3......he has older brothers ! Haha. Will he be able to add one more name befoe 8-1? He must be a little frazzled.
