Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ahh, thank you Ellen & FTL! Good to know!

Chstevens, no letter yet, the box was delivered yesterday (they tried on Monday but the door was not answered). But have info from the awesome recruiter who actually came by our home Saturday with the information! That was above and beyond, as we are in a condo behind other units and hard to find if you have never been before. I thought that was awesome of him! He had been out doing errands with his child and stopped by the office and found the information there, so he brought it! I am working on another letter, included some photos of his sister's hs graduation from yesterday. He was disappointed to miss that.

Annette - Doi...the coffee has not kicked in! Sorry about that!

You are looking for Ship/Div Discussions aren't you? For your SR's Ship/Div?

Again, not a figment of your imagination...we just haven't made them for this PIR GROUP yet!

We don't until we get the official Divisions from RTC website and then we go ahead and do it.

Comment by ellen0502 on June 12, 2013 at 12:01pm

Annette, If you are talking about individual discussion groups for your SRs division and his brother division they will be set up in this group After the RTC confirms the division numbers for this training group. In the meantime get to know each other in the TG, some of your SRs, even if in different divisions, may be attending A School together, and you all will be attending PIR together.

I haven't gotten my letter yet. :(. The recruiter gave me his address and pir date. We already made hotel reservations but no definite travel arrangements yet until we get our letter. I can't wait to see his handwriting even and I will be over the moon to hear his voice soon. I thought I'd be tougher than I'm being. It's hard. Kudos to this website it has helped me tremendously!!!
