~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello!
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:6-7
Gate pass printed!!! Getting so excited!!! I cant wait to see my SR!
Just printed my gate pass! It's getting closer and closer!
Thanks, ellen! That's what I thought on the password. I know the one my son had would have never been a word he would have chosen.....since it is a city name far away, not even sure he knew where it was!
Rascal: Only about 5-6 miles away. Being summer, it will be very crowded. We don't recommend that you try to go there on PIR Day....just a zoo there then. But if your SR is staying in GL for A School, you could go on another of the weekend days. They must be in uniform during the weekend (whites on PIR Day and peanut butters the other days).....and if in a swim suit, they need their Navy issued one. Your sailor will be advised of all of this.
cjforjosh: I assume that if you are flying, you have made those reservations also. No, nothing else to do! Except RSVPing for the MeetandGreet you would like to attend (find the one you want under EVENTS on the right of this page).
I'm glad that they put the gate pass up early for this group! YAH! Here is the link for those who have not printed theirs. Remember to use the password from your form letter...in ALL CAPS:
I asked my son the question about the password a couple of weeks ago for another group. He was very matter of fact when he answered this one, and warning incoming Sailor speak "Mom, we couldn't wipe our a** without being told. No, we did not get to pick the password."
I know we are all so eager to help someone in need and it seems like sharing the password would be harmless enough. The problem is that even though you have become friends with someone on this site or facebook you still don't really know them. Chances are they are who they say they are and 99% probably are just like you. But there is that slim chance that it could be someone who is looking for info that could be used to cause harm. That password gives someone access to a Navy Base and that's why they are so strict about not sharing the password. There have also been recruits who were estranged from a family member and didn't want that person to come to PIR. But she came to this site and to facebook and begged for help and got the password. That young Sailor was very upset that she was there and it caused some problems. So there are several reasons why the password cannot be shared. And if each recruit chooses their own password now this could be the reason why. They would then know who's password was used to print a pass.
She should be able to get it from her recruit and I really feel bad for her because I am sure she is a young wife who just needs some help. I hope he calls her and she gets the password very soon.
Good Morning Everyone! Hope you have a good weekend!
