N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I want to fly Southwest, but the cheapest flight from Oakland Ca gets to Midway close to midnight so there are no shuttles.  We can rent a car, but the thought of driving around for an hour in an unknown area at midnight and being exhausted early next day for PIR is not appealing.

Don't think it will be a problem, cjforjosh, staying in Libertyville.  Is yours staying in GL for A School?  That would be the only situation if you are going back and forth to the hotel with your sailor throughout the weekend.  If your sailor is flying out on Saturday, don't think you will have a problem staying there then.

Comment by diannep on June 18, 2013 at 12:58pm

They are Sailors, but some are Seaman and some are Airmen some are Firemen.

cjforjosh,  when you get th ere you may want to do some drive bys to see how long it will take you to get to base and then take it from there,  you may wanna leave 15 miutes earlier than the timing  just to make sure,  but believe me they will be looking at their watch and might just tell you to leave earlier than you have to because they do not want to be late.

Comment by diannep on June 18, 2013 at 12:29pm

cjforjosh:  Is that Homewood Suites in Libertyville?  Is so, many in the past have stayed there and we have not heard of problems.  You will just need to leave really early from your hotel for PIR.

Glad you all are finding Southwest to have what you want in flights/costs!

tabu1218 We moved to OK from Wichita Falls area not too long ago. Shepherd has plenty of things to do around there. I still have tons of friends and family there and I'm personally down about one weekend a month so if your boy needs anything once he's there let me know!

Good Morning!! How's everyone this morning? Still anxiously awaiting a letter or phone call from my son. We received the form letter, so I at least have some information, but I can't wait to hear from him. I'm so proud, but miss him terribly. He is 18, almost 19, & will be going to Witchita Falls, Tx for A School. He is a Seabee. I couldn't be more proud!
