~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

cindilouwho65,
I would be interested to read you and your son's amazing story! You can post the link here when it comes out. Please use the "LINK" key up above the comment box on the leftside. God indeed has been watching over you all!!
halee: Check out Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee (45 min to GL) or to Chicago-Midway (about an hour to GL). They charge no change fee if you have to change your reservations (i.e., SR gets setback for any reason) and even if you have to cancel, you can use the ticket for up to a year. They also check your first 2 bags for free.
Less traffic in Milwaukee and sometimes cheaper, car rental cheaper...but if your SR will be flying out to A School, they fly out of the Chicago airports normally. We have heard that they will start flying some out of Milwaukee, but not sure on that yet. I say this because many times, families want to visit at the airports with their sailors until time of departure. Southwest also is good about running one-way specials
Hello. My son, T is with Ship 2, Div 938. Any suggestions on airline ticket hunting ?
It's driving me crazy and is so expensive right now. Thanks
Those flying to Mississippi probably will fly out of OHare. No guarantees, but that is where my son flew out of, and a mom recently told us that Pensacola and San Antonio fly out of Midway---she said all others fly from OHare...but I would say---no guarantees on anything. Things can change in the Navy..and they do! :-)
Chantily: San Antonio? You can join the group on here "San Antonio Moms" and ask on there where their sailors flew out of and see if they all agree on the same airport. They most likely will fly out on Saturday, as Kimmy said. Sometimes they spill over into Sunday (you can always hope...more time with YOU) but if there are flights available on Sat., they will be going then.
Those staying in GL for A School have the best deal for Liberty since they have weekend Daytime Liberty (other than possible watch times...usually a 4 hr shift).
Mine is staying in GL for A school.
Our sons are in the same division, but Christian is going to Mississippi. The recruiter told me they fly out the next morning. Check where he flew into, that may help.
My son, who is ship 13, div 282, is going to A school in Texas for hospital corpsman. Anyone else have a kid who is going to A School there? I am trying to figure out what airport they will fly out of and when so I can maybe wait with him at airport.
Jetskimom, mine is Ship 12 but division 279. And we are from So Cal. I am wondering if a parent from NC has a son in 12/279
russmom ship 13, div 281: my son is 25 and will be going to A school for culinary.
