~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

russmom:  Being that it was Fathers Day yesterday, their calls home were probably very limited with so many trying to make calls.  Glad that you received a call though

Hello Ladies.

I'm hoping you all had a pleasant weekend. Mine not so much. Just suffering from the blues. Big time blues. I took some time out to hide today. I watched netflix movies all day long. "Adopt a Sailor" was an awesome movie! Then I started watching the series "Carrier". What an interesting show about life aboard the U.S.S Nimitz.

My son was featured in a feature human interest story which just went to print and was published tonight for Monday's edition of the paper here. He's an amazing kid who has gone through so much! And he's in the Navy now. I'd post the link but I don't think I can here. But, it's a tear jerker. An inspiring story. And a testimonial to if "he can"? Anyone can. It's been our mantra in this household. I think he oughta believe it by now.

The reporter took interest in our family 3 years ago. And has remained in contact with both of us. I found out last minute about 3 days prior to her showing up at our home from my son that she was doing yet another follow up on us. On him. So for 2 days she was in our presence. She was also allowed to be present when he took his oath of enlistment. We got special permission. My son's oath was just him and not in the general group of other young men and women. He loved the attention. Because it's been an incredible journey with him. And maybe reading it would help people understand just how close this family is. He's my boy and he overcame it all to be where he is.

I work one day this week and that's it. I gave up fighting for hours. I got some in for two weeks. But maybe this week I'll get my truck fixed finally and be able to get out and about.

My son is ship 13 div 281,he talked for a few minutes to his Dad and I. Haven't gotten any letters yet just the information about graduation and his box of stuff. It's been hard washing dirty clothes for someone you know won't be here to wear them.

Hey Shoktn5mom! My son is also on Ship 14 Div 285. We haven't received a phone call yet either. I was really hoping that with today being Father's Day, he would be able to call home to talk to his dad & I. Our son left on the 6th, & we've recieved the box & just got the form letter yesterday. We miss him so much!! But we are also so proud. I was very excited to see that the graduation date was earlier than we expected! That makes me so happy! Now to figure out our plans for our trip to GL & get our hotel booked!
