~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I posted this on the boot camp site but wanted to say it here too!

I just got a call from my son!!!! I just happened to have my phone in my hand and it rang--I saw the 847 area code and it said Waukegan IL, so I answered it first ring! This is Taylor's 13th day roughly.  He left June 3-- and is ship 12 div 279.  For any other Oklahoma moms that had boys leave that day also, he said that most of them are all together-- which is making it much better for them-- they were all on the plane together, and so they have all made friends with each other. He said they are doing great-- food is great--all is good. He is homesick of  course, but not in a bad way.  I feel like a ton of weight has been lifted! As I am writing this actually, he just got to call me back for 2 more mins. He talked to me for 13 the first time- then called his girlfriend for 10, then had 3 more min left so he called me back! Moms- they are doing good! Be encouraged-- I know I sure am! Saturdays must be the calling day for many of them, so everyone keep your phones handy today!!!

Sad.... I was outside and it is really windy so I didn't hear my cell ring, I have it on my hip all the time.  I checked my phone two minute after my son called... so sad.  He left a voice mail I've listened to three or four times.  Wish I would have been there for him to talk to.  I'm never going outside again if there's any wind at all.

My son just called!!  I cannot tell you how good it was to hear his voice!  He sounded great and very excited to tell me what he has been doing.  He said he weather has been great, it's a bit cooler in GL than it is at home!  What a great way to start my Saturday morning!  This is one happy momma!

Beachmom:  Yes, Sarge does take people to the airport to visit with their sailors.  Best way to save money is to meet up with some others in this group going at the same time and share his cab.  You will save lots of money that way since he charges by the cab.

Remember, that some sailors will be waiting most of the day at the airport for flights.  A dad in a previous PIR group said that when that happened to his sailor, they rented a room at the Chicago OHare Airport Hilton using their "day rate' ($55 and is actually inside the airport) and had a place for their sailor/family to relax until flight time.  That is allowed so for those with sailors departing OHare later in the afternoon (but they are bussed early in the morning regardless), think about it.  Here's the number:

773 686 8000

Good Morning!
