N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I received the form letter on the 23rd. So many abbreviations to learn:)) Thank you so much for explaining what TG means. Yes he will be attending A school for Navy Diver.

NavyMom, I should add that there are no worries on us not knowing about his division, it happens, especially with an 800 division.

NavyMom, If your son graduates on 8/7 this would be the right group, although the spec ops division is one we were not aware of until now. When did you receive your form letter?

TG=Training Group

This is the 39 TG of the Navy's fiscal year.

I got 2 letters in the mail yesterday! It feels so good to hear from my SR. He's doing fantastic.

The "3rd" week call us around the 3rd (to the fourth) week of training, so closer to the fourth week since they arrived. Don't be alarmed if you don't receive a call, it can be just about anything that prevents it, even hot, humid weather. The call will come though.

Good morning! Happy 3rd Friday!
You know, this may be 3rd friday, but it's technically not 3rd week. My SR told me when he did last call that he'd be able to call again in 3 weeks. I'm betting DIV 260 got to call b/c they got together fastest, the others have to wait til next week...?!

Good Morning!

Ka Teyah,

Another reason why your SR hubby may not have called is because he had watch~~  I think calling cards are only about $20.00 and I've heard they are supposed to be available at Walmart, Walgreens, or CVS, but I've never actually looked for one.  If you do want to send one off to him, make sure it has at least 300 minutes~~

Comment by ellen0502 on June 25, 2015 at 10:39pm

KaTeyah, It never hurts to send a calling card if you can. Perhaps if he already has one he can share it with someone who doesn't.
