~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Dianelynn - I know the feeling. That's how I felt last weekend when all the calls were rolling in and none came to us. This is a difficult time. But I look at the other moms on here who are just sending their SRs off to BC and think, "That was us not too long ago, and look how far we've come.." One more week down! 5 more to go!

gracelyn - my son is an honor guard, too! Very cool! Hopefully we can see them during the live stream of PIR on 7/25 and 8/1, although I am not sure that's guaranteed. My son seemed to think so.

Funny comment about Game of Thrones....when my son realized he'd miss the final episode, he stopped watching....it frustrated him so. I promised we'd record it for him.

So happy for the calls received this past weekend, and hopeful that those who didn't get any will get some very soon!

Good Morning!

So disappointed.. I waited all day yesterday for a call and didn't get one..I did get a letter last week tho but it sure would be nice to hear his voice.

I received my call today, I was playing operator connect, grandma, sister, aunt , nephew, godmother, I was connecting everyone,
he's a honor guard, at PIR I will get to see him perform. So good to hear his voice after almost 3 weeks, I had to tell him about the last episode of games of thrones, I will get a good night sleep tonight,

Oh, and our countdown clock is now in the 30's! yay!

We finally got a call today! Well, something other than the scripted call and another 5 minute call 3 days later. Our son has been gone since June 11th, and we hadn't even received a letter from him yet (other than the form letter), and today we were able to speak with him for an hour!  I was thrilled! He sounds so good, so upbeat - said the food is actually good (!), and he gets up at 5:30 on his own so he has time to get ready.....where did that come from?! lol  The worst is imagining all sorts of things and wondering how they are doing. Now I can rest easy.

@Victorsmom - Didn't want you to think you were alone.  I so understand why he maybe didn't call his dad too.  Really - our SR's will understand. Lighten the load on yourself.

Hi Amos294, Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad your son was able to talk to his grandma and sister. Things happen for a reason. At first I did not understand why he did not call his dad cell but after I thought about it. As we all know most men do not show tears. When we took SR to the airport his dad showed tears which cause our son to break down. I think our SR was afraid to call his dad because of emotions. I know he would not want to go thru that, while being there. I do think things like this are harder on us then our children. The comments from the moms keep me going and informed. Thanks again and thanks for navyformoms.
