~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi, we got our call today. My stepson called his dad today and missed the call. We are a little bum but was thankful to hear his message. Still no letter yet so not sure on his address. He said he will graduate the 8th.

Liz, my son's in 939, and called last Saturday but not today. He arrived Wednesday June 11. I didn't expect another call today , but you never know. I am always ready - cell phone charged and by my side. It will be an unexpected pleasure if he does call, but if he doesn't at least I know we can write now. I LOVE the calendar idea,

Drew's TX Mimi, I make it a point to write dates and times in all my letters. I say it's Thursday the 16th for example. I also date the photos. I'm not sure if it helps them much but it keeps a general idea of the date. If your SR is feeling a little home sick maybe you can include a small calender where you mark off as each day passes with each letter. It can be a countdown for the both of you! Hopefully that helps! (:

Has anyone received any calls from div 939 other than last Saturday? I keep seeing all these calls today, just wondering if I'll get one soon!
Comment by Drew's Tx Mimi on June 21, 2014 at 6:13pm

Oh, gson- Drew also said he is in an integrated division. Div 239.

My g.son requested "a little calendar", said he is losing track of the days -they are so busy.

Did any of you think to send a calendar along? I'm just going to print out June, July, August (the size of my hand). with about a 1/2 inch square to write in......if he can write small!

I was still half asleep when he called and didn't ask questions about it!

Any ideas?

My son called me this morning too! It was really nice to hear his voice & hear that he was doing good & eating well:) He said so far it hasn't been as bad as he thought it would be. He sounded upbeat. I haven't received anything but the box yet, so he confirmed the address the recruiter gave me. Ship 03 Div 242. I feel much better now. Today is the anniversary of my mom's death so hearing from him made my day a lil easier to bare.

Drews Tx Mimi:  My son too is private about the bathroom and, boy, were his eyes opened at Bootcamp!  They are "side by side" while doing their business, with the RDCs at times walking up and down telling them to hurry up in some cases.  HA!  They learn to adapt to most everything they have to adapt to!

gracelyn:  You did GOOD!  :-)
