~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

ProudNavyMom, like diannep said they don't have a place on base for extra guests to wait and watch the live stream of the ceremony. You could get on base because you would have a pass but once your family checked in then you wouldn't have a place to wait. As hard as it is your best bet is to wait at your hotel and watch the live stream there from a laptop. Then after the ceremony you can join your family and spend time with your Sailor. Does he stay in Great Lakes for A-school or go elsewhere?

Good morning everyone :) Do you have a recruit in the performing division?

Here is some info to help you understand what your recruit may be doing and why he/she is in the Performing division.

Performing divisions info:

There are actually three different performing divisions that rotate. One is a working group called ships staff and they work behind the scenes with VIP's and as greeters, side boys and body snatchers. Side boys for a Receiving line for the VIP's to enter through at the start of the ceremony. Body snatchers walk up and down the isles of sailors and make eye contact and even speak to the sailors to make sure they are not about to pass out. They often lock their knees because they have to stand in one spot for such a long time. If they lock their knees it can cut off the blood flow and cause them to faint. Of course the sailor behind them does their best to catch them :) Another part of the performing divisions is the flag corp and they carry and perform with the 50 state flags during the ceremony. The third part is known as The Triple Threat. The Triple Threat is made up of the band, drill team and choir and they all perform throughout the ceremony. It is so amazing how they can pull this all off in such a short time and still accomplish all that is to be done during boot camp. They are either chosen for this division or they can volunteer for it. If they have band, flagcorps, drill team, choir, or marching experience they can volunteer. They can also be handpicked or volunteer if they have high ASVAB scores. They don't expect them to need as much time to study which gives a lot more time for practice :) Once they are in the performing DIV they may be able to try out to be a part of the Triple Threat and be in the band, choir, or drill team. I hope this helps you all understand what your recruits are doing.

Good Morning All !

ProudNavyMom:  No, they won't allow you on base unless you are on the list.  You would have to watch the livestream off base somewhere.  So sweet of you to give up your spot....not an easy decision.

Wonderful! So I've written my son to ask him to take me off his list of four so that his father and two brothers can go. His brothers are 18 and 19 and respect and look up to their older brother. I think it's more important they they share this event with him and that his accomplishment serves as an influence to his brothers. But, boy am I heartbroken not to be there. I'll feel better if I can at least be nearby - which isn't at all logical...I know. Now, I'm wondering if the ROTC will stream the PIR live on base so that those of us who cannot get into the drill room can still be on base and watch the stream.

Yes they can as long as they have an ID and you have a good reason to be on base. Which you do :)

Question: the RTC website states that if your name is not on the list for PIR, then you cannot go into the drill hall. BUT, can a family member still get onto base?

Yes, you were missed, Lala!

So sorry I was MIA, a bad storm knocked out my modem so I didn't have internet for almost a whole day. I thought I was going to go nuts lol. Did you miss me? Did you notice I was gone? lol

Thanks Diannep, maybe I was missed a little :)

Here you go, cheflinda.  I assume this is what you are talking about?

Thanks Peggy and your are so so right, definitely not true :) I think there were 15 Sailors from the Truman who were pregnant when it came time to deploy lol. I think a lot of hubby's didn't want them to go haha, and it seems to happen with all the ships but then the deployment didn't happen lol So lots of Navy Baby's always joining the fleet <3

Good morning everyone. What day is it? WHAT DAY IS IT? It's HUMP Daaaaay :) lol I hope you all have a good day and I hope you all get letters today or tomorrow.

If your Sailor will fly out for A-school here is some info that you should send to your recruit at least a week before PIR. Just write this all down on an index card. Tell them when they get their itinerary the week of PIR they can use it to fill in the blanks and then hand it to you after PIR. It is important to know all this so you don't end up at the wrong gate or even worse the wrong airport. Sadly, that has happened.

Have a wonderful Hump Day :)

Please fill this out when you get your flight itinerary/orders and then give it to us at PIR. Do not mail it.
