Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

ty'smom:  They mail one letter out. However, I was told by someone who worked at RTC that they can ask for an extra letter to send to their other parent in a divorce situation.  The most important part of that letter is the PASSWORD.  That will be used to download your RTC gate pass about 11 days before PIR. Your SR will know this word since he/she is the one who wrote it in the letter.

So ladies, keep that letter/password in a safe place!  Just saw a post last night on today's PIR group from a lady who arrived in GL only to realize she forgot her form letter/password and didn't have the gate pass.  So keep it in a safe place!

Have a wonderful visit, ellen!  :-)

NavyMom2005 I wonder if our SRs are in the same division. If so you should be getting your letter any day. :)

DeeMarie our SR left 6/6 and no letter yet but his recruiter said he had a PIR date of 8/9. Thought for sure it was going to be 8/2...tacked another week on :(

My SR arrived at GL on June 6. We originally thought an Aug 2 PIR (which would have been 9 Fridays), but when we received his letter on June 18 it said Aug 9 PIR. I have heard that there were some weather delays during the week of June 10 that held up some recruit arrivals.

HELP!!!  From what I am getting from blogs and information my son should be PIR 8/9/13 BUT I don't have a letter yet.  Does anybody know if letters get mailed out to moms and dads that are divorced, if the letter goes to both households???

Good morning! Just dropped my oldest off at the airport to go meet his sailor brother, who has just finished C School, and is headed home before shipping out. I love it when leave rolls around!!!
