For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Great Place to Stay
Just made my hotel reservations. Wanted to spread the word. Look up "Navy Lodge" I heard of this place from a friend, and I've noticed its NOT publicized. So maybe I'm giving away a great secret!!!
I booked for $65 per night, NO TAXES, and was able to use my son's military status and its only 1 mile from base!!!!

Good for you! Both LaLa and I stayed at the Navy Lodge. Here is my take on it!
Here is some additional info on the Navy Lodge:
I stay military when I can...hubby has been AF Reserves for 27 years, son is the Sailor...so I have dependant ID. You don't need it for this Navy Lodge. You tell them it is for PIR and they may ask for your Recruits Name and Rate (Navy enlisted have "rate" not rank...it coincides with their pay grade E-1 to E-9 for enlisted. E-3 is the highest rate they can "rank up" too in BC). They may also ask you to bring them by to verify...but I always forget if that is enforced.
It is clean, I did not get a kitchenette as those are first come first serve. We had to queens and a rollaway.TV with DVD player, microwave, small fridge etc. Had nice furniture and a lobby with a fireplace. Hot coffee 24/7. Vending machines (variety...even one with alcohol! You have to get tokens at the desk for this.) Coin laundry, You can buy Computer time (these look exactly like the ones I saw in Recruit phone Computer room at the NEX) and pay for printer usage. Computers are in front of the elevators on each floor. WiFi has a charge. They do not have a Shuttle Service...but you can ask to arrange for a taxi...again here is where Sarge can come in handy!(SARGE AT 847-212-0246)
Lobby has DVD's for rent, post cards and a Curio with some Navy items for sale. They will give you a temporary pass to use at the small NEX down the road...there is also a gas station (don't need a pass for that).
It runs about $65.00 a night...no tax.

They do a brown bag breakfast daily...was great for PIR. Bagel, cream cheese, chewy granola bar and large OJ...all in this bag:
Was great for PIR! I don't have pictures of the outside...only our messy hotel room!
The NL is about 1.5 miles from RTC. It is not on base but it is in some of the base housing area.

We might look into this. Me, daughter and recruit's girlfriend are flying and my parents are driving (after PIR they are going to Missouri to see my Brother in Law in the army and sister). so we will have a car, so i dont need shuttle or taxi. being close would be nice. FTLW posts that there was 2 queens and 1 rollaway, that would work we could fit in one room. we are flying in Thurs. afternoon, then home Saturday (my recruit is going to VA for A school so he is not hanging around)

Actually, WadesMom, Navy Lodge is publicized alot on the PIR page! :-) Both FTLW and Lala (N4Moms veterans) stayed there. We usually wait to talk more about it once all have received info in their form letters. Glad you gave it another plug! Just remember...they do not have the PIR shuttle. You will have to drive (close) or take a cab. But you DO get a free pass to use at the smaller NEX (Navy Exchange) there...which you can use without your sailor being with you. That is not the case with the other NEXes. Sailor must be with you then. Be sure to request the rooms with the kitchen, if you may need that. All of the rooms don't have them, but some do!
Would like to plug the Residence Inn Waukegan too. This is especially nice for those with larger groups attending PIR. They have studios and 2 bdrm 2 bth suites. Pet friendly for those driving and wanting to bring pets to see their sailors! Be sure to book them early as they fill up. I believe the studios run around $79/night (with PIR discount)...not sure. Suites are more. We had a very nice stay there a couple of years ago!

I am about to make our reservations at the Navy Lodge. I understand it's on 1.5 miles away but if we drove to the base and the Lodge does not provide a shuttle what other options are there and what time is the best time to get to the auditorium?

Thanks for the tip... I just reserved.. am cancelling my Red Robin in reservation. This looks nicer. I book @ Red Robin because of the proximity to the base.

Hi there! We just booked our room & are staying at the Navy Lodge. We've rented a car to get around. I'm wondering is it easier to get to PIR via taxi/SARGE or driving our rental?
