Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Since I have been thru this is Oct. here is my advice on making arrangements for PIR.  Book your rooms as soon as you can....make sure you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance.  If you want to stay at NAVY lodge I highly recommend making reservations sooner rather than later.  when booking airline reservation make sure there is no cancellation or fee to change them u can usally do this on southwest  plus they let you check up to two bags.  It's best not to use a travel site even though they may be a bit cheaper.'

You really do not need tor rent a car you can use Sarge's taxi service he is great and has resonable rates he will try to arrange shared rides to keep your cost down.

And I highly recommend Sarge's Meet and Greet!!! He does an awesome job and gives a great deal of information it's a great way to meet everyone you have been communicating with and when staying at the navy lodge the party continues

Those are my suggestions take them for what they worth this is what worked for me.

Anyone know if division 940 made calls today?

I plan to go for sure. I'm not sure how to get an invite etc.

@Babs---thanks for the welcome! I am still learning how to navigate the site, so please forgive me if I am slow in responding. My son is an AECF. I wish I had know about this site weeks ago, it would have answered LOTS of questions. I see a lot of you are staying at the Navy Lodge...I checked their rates...pretty good. Is anyone going to Sarge's Meet and Greet?

oops sorry-

How far in advance should we book hotels and prepare for graduation plans?

Also, are their recruiters updated on their progress?

Comment by diannep on June 29, 2014 at 2:55pm

CC:  Still time to receive the form letter.  If you do not, make sure to ask your SR for the password.  That is what you will use to download a gate pass (available 11 days before PIR) so you can drive on base.  If you take a shuttle from a hotel or park off base, you will not need the gate pass.  So no worries....you will be able to get into PIR as long as your SR has your name on the guest list!  They get to update these lists shortly before PIR.
