~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks diannep for the info.
So, just a bit frustrated with online issues - I've been trying to post this message since last night:
Aloha everyone! Glad to finally make it to this group! My Baby Boy is on SHIP 13 DIV 250 along with the kids of these lovely Navy Moms: Babs, 1Bodyprof, publichealthgal, sharebear & 3tboys!!!
I'm so excited to begin this new sisterhood with everyone here all the way through possibly meeting at PIR! WooHoo!!! My husband & I will soon be making our reservations hopefully at the Navy Lodge... I am looking forward to making our door banner to show our Navy pride & show off our Sailor - How exciting!!
Just a thought, I ordered my son's "Anchors Aweigh" banner for his party from Shindigz.com for about $20 they also offer vertical banners as well which could be attached as a door display :-)
Have a blessed weekend everyone!!
Got to speak to my son today was so happy I went blank and didn't ask him anything! I remembered questions after! I think he's going to another ship and division. He did tell me about the swim test, I remember that! HAHAHA
Babs: What a blessing to have that Retired Sailor in Panera when your son called! I bet that conversation with him was great, for him and you all too! SO neat that he had the same job that your SR will have! What are the chances of THAT? God works in mysterious ways! ;-)
Impresaria: Welcome to the group! Yes, it is so hard to hear them so emotional. Bootcamp is pretty rough emotionally....especially in the beginning. They are cut off from everything they love....people, things, PHONES! When my son was there, he would call and tell me that I was his "connection to the outside world." They really keep them focused and isolated....which leads to great friendships with their shipmates! They learn to bond together as a team since the results are good for all!
On the calls, the Sunday calls usually come in the afternoon since they can attend church in the morning if they like and they have a more relaxed schedule.
Babs: Yep, teamwork which means the whole team being rewarded for doing well....or....punished for the screwups of a few. When my son was there, one of his shipmates screwed up.....and.....everyone in the division, but the poor guy who "commited the crime," had to do IT (Intensive Training) for 2 hours....which means bear crawls, etc....they made this guy sit and watch his shipmates take the punishment. My son said eventually, the guy was in tears....can you imagine? He probably thought he would need to sleep with one eye open after that. But it is very important for them to realize that one person's screwup when deployed can endanger everyone, so they have little tolerance for those who don't take this seriously. Although many divisions struggle with this in the beginning of Bootcamp, they pull it together by the end....you will see this yourself at PIR because it is truly amazing to watch them!
Thanks @mygirlsrock @catmom for the info.
CatMom thanks for the clarification and I happily stand corrected!
