N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

(((tears))) I had checked this page this morning and read how many people were receiving calls. My sweetie and I were at Panera having b'fast when a couple walked in and the older gentleman was wearing a "Retired Navy" cap. I said to Will that I was going to go talk to them. With that, my phone rang and it was my son!!!! I answered and ran outside to talk with him. Cried at first but pulled it together, he's frustrated with getting "punished" for other SR's stuff. Lots of encouragement and support from me but I was choking back the tears. Talked for 10 minutes or so, a little of an abrupt goodbye. After hanging up, I just sobbed like a fool! Walking back in I then had the best conversation with the Navy couple! And he was retired from the same job my SR is going for, cryptology!!! I was shaking all over and actually had to calm myself down. What a roller coaster!!

Diannep....yes, that is exactly what I did. I was feeling it'd be better for him if I could control that a little. I'm also aware of opsec and all that stuff too!

CC:  Lala's website address is listed on her page.  Use the link I posted below and you should be able to find it!

Babs:  You may not want to post the actual address on FB...but rather say you have it and for those who want to write him, they can message you.  I say that because you never know who might think it is funny to write him something that could get him in trouble, and this way, when you send the address back to each person, you can kindly ask them to refrain from writing things on the outside of the envelope, putting stickers, etc.  The SRs get lots of hazing and teasing from their RDCs when this happens so hopefully, his really GOOD friends would respect that and not want to get him in trouble!  Posting the address right there on his FB for all to see is a little too "open", in my opinion!

Ladies, when your SRs arrived at Bootcamp, they were issued a Debit Supply Card that they can use at the NEX for whatever they need, including a phone card.  However, it does save them some money if you want to send them one!

Congrats on the calls and hoping there are more today for others!
