OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

@diannep I also would like to know when battle stations are taking place for division 262.  I'm sure my SR will not tell me about it in his letters.  Thank you very much

Thank you diannep. I copied the information before I accepted the request.

delegated should be deleated, stupid auto correct.

I accidentally delegated my comment. I was hoping for a call on the weekend. My daughter missed the run by only 15 seconds last time. Last year my son was able to call the weekend before battle stations to let us know when he was doing that, and that he passed his pfa. I guess not this time around. The waiting to know if she passed pfa killing me. I guess I will just have to wait till the day after battle stations to find out, or hopefully letters today. Missed last week's letter, the girls in 255 didn't mail any. My mom and my husband tried to cheer me up telling me that maybe she was to busy to write. I told them, none of the girls sent letters.

May I get the date for Div 263 Battle Station please :).

To all - it's not that I haven't been not wanting to participate in this forum - just have been very busy between work, and then sending one one off to out of state college.  I have been saying lots of prayers for all of our men and women in bootcamp and in the forces that are protecting our country.  How fortunate we are to have such wonderful Men and Women that love us and our Country so much!!!  God bless them all!

Just think this is our last Friday till we see our love ones!!!!!

It's better than Christmas!
