OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks, Lala.  I stopped by today to walk Kelsie's sweet dog for them....as I walked her, I thought how sad that "Sandy" only had her "master" for a year....Kelsie loved her so much...  sniff....

Sigh....ellen....yep, he is a sneaky sailor!

Will be off here for a while....good friends of mine lost their 24 yr old daughter last night in a horrendous boating accident down here in Miami that killed 4, and injured 5 others....all young people.  We are in shock....she is a twin and her brother is devastated....parents and older brother are in horrible shock...I just wanted to hug them forever....she was the sweetest girl....when I saw her sweet dog in their kitchen today, broke my heart....only a year old...she adored this pup and vice versa.  Need to tend to homefires here for a while so will drop in here if I can.

I received my letter today Ship 14 Div. 259. Super excited to have a mailing address. Looking forward to the next mile stone.... maybe a phone call.  Have been saving PTO days and now I can request my time off for travel, as I have to give at least 4 weeks notice. Now I know I can be there!  Let the count down begin!
