Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I got my form letter today from my daughter. Ship 3 div 261 I was really hoping it was an actual letter. I'm wondering how she is handling things. I would be nice to meet some moms from her division and see pictures of your kids she is serving with.

I received a real (not from script) ten minute phone call from my son today!!
I received the letter with his address in Great Lakes and the graduation date a few days ago.
(Ship 13 Div 257, pir 8/22/14)
I have not received the box yet.
I'm thinking he may have donated his clothes.
Anyone else have a recruit with the same ship and division?

so happy to get the first "real" phone call today! He sounded great...I was worried until I heard him! He said the other recruits are cool and getting along. He misses home and everyone but told me that as long as you do what you are supposed to do then there are no real issues. I am just glad he sounded so good!

Just got my letter today. He is on Ship 14 Div 259! The box sure didn't make me cry (its still packed in his room) but the letter sure did. Was starting to get worried that I wouldn't get it.

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th!
Haven't been around much due to my "real job" taking too much time away from my fun. Then the power supply on my computer failed, then my secondary hard drive. Bleh...hate computers sometimes.
Hey diannep, Guess what I did get during my absence... A new pic of my son on ship.

This pic is from a "Steel Beach Picnic". They have these on the last Sunday they are out at sea and ready to head home!

We just got our first phone call from our son. He is missing family and friends also, but sounds good. So the phones are ringing!!!! So thankful!!!

I just talked to my daughter! She misses family and friends, of course, but her spirits are high! It sounds like she making lots of friends and she says she hasn't gotten yelled at yet! Yea!
