N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

First names of your SRs are not prohibited on this site.  But we like to fly under the radar here....knowing that the RDCs are on both this site and the FB groups (private or not, they have ways of getting the info).,  So we recommend that you all not use first names nor piks of your SRs on here.  Some RDCs are not on the sites and so it doesn't matter.  But just in case....this site is for your support and we don't want any "drama" on the site from too much info that may be posted re: a particular SR.  Just a suggestion!

Good Morning!

thisistuff,

You should definitely be booking your hotel and flights now since your PIR is only a month away.  Favorite hotels are Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, Courtyard Marriot, and Springhill Suites, all in Waukegan/Gurnee.  Make sure that you ask about their Navy graduation rate and compare that to their best available online rate or AAA rate.  They don't require any deposit to make a reservation.  Also, the Navy Lodge is another good one.  It is off base not too far from RTC, but you will still need to take a shuttle or drive to PIR.  You need to make a reservation under your SR's name there.

The Navy Lodge is located in the family housing of the base. It is not behind a gate. You and your Sailor can come and go from there as you please.

There is a train that takes you to Chicago and it is the only way to go. :) The station is located directly across from the PIR gate. It is $3 one way or you can buy a weekend unlimited pass for $7. Buy the weekend pass even if you don't think you will use it again, if you do end up going again it will save you lots of money. :)

A couple of short cuts to help you navigate this site. At the top of every page are tabs "Main", "Invite", "My Page" etc. Clicking on any one of those will take you to the main page for those pages.

The "My Page" tab will take you to a page that is all about you on this site. Within that page is will show all the groups you have joined. Clicking anyone of those links will take you to the main page of that group.

Clicking on the "Groups" tab will take you to a main page of all the groups on this site. On the  left side of that main page just below the tabe there are two other clickable links, "All Groups" and "My Groups". The :My Groups" tab will take you to all of the groups you have joined.

If you are looking for someone specific you can post initials, S(last name) in division *** from Ohio.

My son is engaged so I wonder if he's one of the men your husband has spoken of NavyWife623. He said there was only a handful of guys older than 19. I think they only go by last names and I don't think we are suppose to use them. Any nicknames?
Comment by thisistuff on July 23, 2013 at 11:27pm

I would think using first names would not endanger anyone:)

My mother in law said it is. She's double chacking right now. And I don't know any first names. He didn't give them to me. I just know one had a girlfriend and the other is engaged. Lol
