~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lala, I wondered about requiring a signature. I wasn't sure if I could do that. I sure don't want to get him in any trouble. I guess my thing was just curious why he needs it? He has his routing number and account number. Our bank sent him with all the paperwork he should have needed.

Alisa maybe you can send it with tracking and where a signature is required. At least then you would know it arrived and could trace who signed for it.  I wouldn't send the pin number with it at all.

Christina, I have rented several times and really prefer that to a taxi. Do you have a GPS? (or the app on your phone?)  If not, some companies offer a gps. It is worth asking.  If you have full coverage on your current car, you really don't have to get the insurance that they offer through the rental company. I will say that if you have very high deductibles on your insurance, it might be worth picking up their coverage for the weekend.

DIANNEP,

I found a weekend rate total of $124.29 for an ACE compact car rental, that's without any added insurance fees or extras. Is there any basic car coverage you would recomend paying for extra??

BECKY/DIANNEP,

I have never rented a car before and am pretty skeptical of doing so, especially driving by myself. Is it a pretty easy drive from the airport to waukegan/gurnee?? I'm just trying to plan as easy and less costly as I can. I do understand the freedom of renting a car, which sounds amazing!! But I don't even know the beginning or basics of renting lol!! (I dont tracel much, can ya tell? lol)

Hi there!

Christina:  Becky is correct.  Even with Sarge's discount, it is pricey if you don't share his cab with others.  It is usually more economical to rent a car.  Check Enterprise, Budget, and Ace.  Some of the ladies on this site have gotten super deals on car rentals in the past.

Christina, you would probably be better off renting a car in the long run.  You can get pretty good deals (especially on weekends) for a compact car and you would have the freedom to go wherever you want and won't have to worry about whether stuff is close to the hotel, etc.  I'd price them and see.  I would say a cab from the airport would be very expensive since most people are saying it is at least a 30 minute drive from RTC.
