N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got a call this afternoon!! He sounded good but was missing home! He said their division has a lot of IT's and are behind other divisions because of a few men who just can't listen and won't stop talking. But other than that, he said the food was good and he passed his tests. I can't wait for 8/23!

My husband was the same way. It sucks knowing that he's so upset! He's not one to show a lot of emotion or cry or say he misses me or all that but he sure did today. I hope they all can turn around soon and start feeling better about it!

My son is Ship 12 DIV 313 by the way....

We got our call today at about 1pm...I LOVED HEARING HIS VOICE.....he sounded really good but he cried through most of our conversation....poor kid! And he's not a big crier either....said he was really homesick and missed me. By the end of our talk, he sounded better and I told him to just take a deep breathe and kick some butt! We will always be here for him but this was HIS time.

Pamela when I talked to my husband he said that the recruits in his div that had teeth pulled the day before were on bed rest and were not able to make the phone calls, a possible explanation?

Comment by diannep on July 13, 2013 at 6:21pm

Pamela:   Yes, they can miss a call if they have "watch" or an appt somwhere else.  Or sometimes they can run out of time and all can't call.  Hopefully that call will come soon!

Its very normal for them to be homesick and upset this early in bootcamp.  It DOES get better so hang in there!

:) we got the call !!! So glad we finally heard from my son. He too was crying when my husband first answered but only because he missed us.. We quickly changed the subject and he was fine. We told him not to worry and just focus.. That we weren't sad.. We were excited for him. Hang in there everyone, the calls are coming.

I heard from my daughter but she was crying when the phone call started, she was in better spirits when we hung up but it was so hard to hear her crying.  I hope this is a normal thing for some SR's because it sure has me worried about her.  She did say she was doing ok and she has a lot of friends.

talked to my girl! :-) She sounds great but is having trouble with the push ups. she says she'll get it though! Super pumped that I got to talk to her. She called her dad right after because I was at the pool with the younger ones. He said he only got about 20seconds... but she sounded good. :D
