Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Even though the RTC hasn't confirmed the divisions for this TG I have gone ahead and started the division discussions. If something changes I will fix it. :)
I also don't have a ship number for divisions 317/318. If you know it let me know and I will add it to the title.

I agree with ellen about posting your questions for us on here and not in the discussion groups. Like she said, there is no way we can consistently get to all of the discussion groups in each PIR group.....Wheeew!

paul2jack> I agree with ellen....you most definitely are in this PIR group if Div 312. So it would be safe to book travel arrangements....but beware....if you book through a travel discount site online, there may be high fees to pay if you have to change or cancel, so be sure to check that out thoroughly. Any SR can be setback in training at any time...the majority are not, but some will be. Also, some will be discharged for various reasons.
If booking flights, I suggest Southwest again since there is no change fee and first 2 bags check for free. Remember, they fly into both Chicago-Midway and Milwaukee (Milwaukee is only a 45 minute drive, Midway an hour+).
kristi: I would call the PAO about the car registration issue 847 688 2405
And, since your sailor is staying in GL for A School, you will have daytime liberty with your sailor through the weekend, so if you can make your return travel arrangements back on Monday, you will have lots of time. If not Monday, do it as late as possible on Sunday since your sailor may have until 9 or 10 pm with you on Sunday night.
Navy Lodge has received good reviews on here from previous PIR groups and they recently renovated!

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here.
Please do not start new Division Discussions.
Discussion Forum Area
This is the place to start a Discussion about a topic and for your Division Discussions.
The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)
It is also set to show the "latest activity" (there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.
To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter or even a period and add the reply.
When you view a DF by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.
~You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

We have posted your Division Discussions up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here...you all have developed such a nice group!
Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-80 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

Paula: Ramada has very mixed reviews....some like it fine, others hate it. A "smell" has been reported in the past. Just make sure to read the blogs about it and then see what you think!
Yep, Navy issued bathing suits for sure! They must stay "in uniform" after PIR.

paul2jack, There is no doubt division 312 is in this TG, since that division would only be the second division of this group, and TG can have 5-14 divisions. So far it appears to end with 320 and 941, just don't know for sure.
The RTC is taking their time on posting this TG, which makes me wonder if the last will be 322, but I would just be guessing.

a good site to look at hotels on is trip advisor they post real people pics not just the professional pics and real people gie thier testimony on how it was

They can only wear the Navy issued swimsuit so make sure they bring it when you are leaving PIR if they are going to swim.
