OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Christina:  I would suggest either Navy Lodge (book in your sailor's name) or Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, or Holiday Inn Express (all in Waukegan/Gurnee area).  Navy Lodge is only a mile from RTC in the housing area.  The other three hotels are in a nice area, big Walmart shopping center, very close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR.  Restaurants are in the area.  We stayed at Residence Inn which is right near there too and it was great.

Also, if you need shuttle service from the airports to GL, Sarge can help you with that too.

Hi all, I need some info on some nice hotels and safe. I'm a little nervous because ill be traveling by myself to see my husband and being pregnant I'm trying to make this easy on myself. Did anyone book at some places close to the graduation ceremony and is it around restaurants/shopping centers??

We are on Baby Watch, My Sailors are at the hospital, contractions are 3 to 5 min apart and according to ultrasound head is down but she has not dilated any, they are keeping her for now checking her again in two hours. She is 36 weeks and 3 days, due Aug 2nd so I am hoping she waits a little longer but it looks more like I will be heading to VA Beach very very soon. Please keep them and me in your prayers <3

Hi everyone I am one of the volunteers here to help you through this experience :)  I hope you all are having a good week so far. I know how hard this is for so many of you. And as hard as it is to believe the boot camp time will pass pretty quickly. I was a mess when my daughter was there. I didn’t have much time to prepare as she was only in DEP one month and then she was gone. I was and am a worrier lol so I was always wondering what she was doing and how she was. But it all turned out great and it is so hard for me to believe it has been three years. Now she is a Sailor and is married to a Sailor and they are expecting their first baby and my first grand baby :) I am still here helping others get through this experience and I love it. If you have any questions or concerns please just let us know and feel free to send me a friend request if you like. I am happy to help in any way I can.

I always say the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly so, try to find something fun to do and stay busy.

If you have little ones at home there are several things you can do to make this journey a little easier for the, Make a paper chain with a link for each day they have left in boot camp and let them remove one link each day. It will help them see that this is only temporary. Other have also put a quarter in a jar for every day left and each week allowed the child/children to use the money for an ice-cream cone or even for a special card to send to their recruit, gumballs or gummy bears in a jar work well too and they get a tiny little treat each day. So many things can make it a better experience for them.  Welcome to your PIR group, we are happy to have you here :)

Allie:  Navy Gateway is not on RTC...just wanted to make sure you knew that.  It is on the A School base which is nearby. Will your new sailor being going to A School in GL?  If so, he/she will need to get a deviation chit when moving over there in order to visit the hotel.  The A School students are not allowed at the hotel normally.  If your sailor is flying out for A School, so staying on RTC until the next day, probably won't be a problem visiting the hotel on PIR Day.

evetnaz:  Navy Lodge has some with kitchenettes.  Residence Inn has full kitchens.

Kristi:  I think this will be 319/320's group....hopefully RTC will post the division numbers for this PIR group tomorrow.
