Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The form letter can actually take anywhere from 2-3 days to up to 3 weeks. The last divisions to fill would probably take the longest. Be sure to put the form letter in a safe place since you will need the password in there to download your PIR gate pass shortly before PIR.

If it helps, my son left on 6/20 and I received the form letter on Monday, 7/1. I hear that you should expect the letter to take about 10 days. Still no personal letter or phone call, but when my niece was in BC it took about 3 weeks to hear from her on a personal level.

Got the form letter yesterday, and on the very bottom of page 2 (page with the address) she wrote "love and miss you guys so much" with 3 hearts! (love my little sneaky messages lol)
Seems to be very upbeat to me :)

So glad you found us, Codeman! Yep, 315/316 will be in this group. RTC should post the divisionnumbers in this group early next week and then ellen will put them at the top of the page. Please be sure to read the "PAGES" section above, under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX, for lots of info! After the division numbers are posted by RTC for this group, ellen will open the discussion forum above with discussion groups for each division/brother division in this PIR group.
