OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My daughter is Ship 03 DIV 315. I was so excited to get the letter. I can't wait to get a real letter from her.

I tried to keep my 4th of July low key because I knew I would feel emotional.  We have a 15 yr old daughter and she didn't even get to see any fireworks, but we sat outside and watched our neighbors blow up the neighborhood for a few minutes. We normally go to a baseball game with fireworks after, but with all the rain we have had (combined with my mood) it just didn't happen.  I'm sure I will get used to things the way they are, but it is going to take a while.  I will share that my daughter is having a blast making fun of me taking my phone everywhere and jumping every time it rings!  Knowing some of you feel the same way makes me feel a little more normal. :)

Fyi .. record heat in AZ .. we are close to setting the record for the most consecutive triple digit heat .. 39 straight days is the record. 104 in Tucson today ..

YEAHHH . Alisa!!  We are next ladies ;)

This the 1st year I didn't see fireworks .. I would have been a wreck! Just seeing the American flag sets me off. AND forget those military homecoming shows right now .. lol

Paul2jack .. yeah, my husband didn't know how hard it would be either .  Also a step dad.  He makes jokes tryin  to "lighten" my mood .. sometimes it works most days it doesn't.

Alisa, The PIR date would be 08/23 not the 24th (maybe just a typo). Don't want you to make travels arrangements for the wrong date. :)
