N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I didn't expect a phone call but my poor husband was.  He was so disappointed when it never came. It was a different kind of July4th.  1st I had to work (which I don't think I've ever worked on the 4th) 2nd We usually take our big family vacation that week and 3rd it was the 1st holiday without our son.  Thank the lord that I still have a 15 yr old at home.  Of course, he's being spoiled rotten:)

We got our letter...he arrived BC 6-24-13 and he's in div 313 ship 12. PIR is 8-24-13. So be watching the mail ladies:)

I would imagine that with this being such a new group, this PIR group was not allowed to call.  Again, limited phone banks and so many SRs on the base.

I did get a call from my son on Thanksgiving when he had first arrived at bootcamp, just 3 days earlier.  But no call on Christmas or Christmas Eve, no call on New Years, etc.  It is just the way of the military and prepares you for when they are deployed and unable to reach you all of the time.  Doesn't make it any easier, but it may help you to understand why they do it.

Having said that, hoping for calls soon for you guys!

I was so hoping for a call - didn't get it :(

Did anyone get one? I wasn't really expecting one because they haven't been there very long, but was hopeful and jumped out of my skin every time the phone rang lol

Paul2jack .. I thought my daughter might of called too. I mean .. it was 4th of July right? Sorry, no such luck here either. Keeping busy helps a bit but I can be waterworks at the drop of a dime. I hope it gets better after the call or 1st letter. I have an app on my phone that tells me 49 days till PIR and I get to see her. I'm sure it's harder for them then it is for us.

First event/holiday without my SR and I must admit it was touch and go with the waterworks throughout the day...I was secretly hoping they had a down day and I might get a call, I feel silly carrying my cell phone with me everywhere just in case. I must look like a teenager - lol
