Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Everyone seems to be on ship 13 or 14 except Kevin.. He is the only one that is on ship 9 should I be concerned that something is wrong?? Or am I over thinking this? So exhausted and stressed

Just got off the phone with the recruiter. Kevin left on the 26th he is on ship 09 Div 320 is PIR date is listed in the computer as 8/23 anyone out there on the same ship??

3cboysm - my son is Ship 13 Div 311 as well You should be so proud!! :) You've covered 3 of 5 branches of service! :)

My son left NC and arrived at RTC on 6/20 and his PIR is 8/23. I have a feeling they were on hold for several days. It seems even more apparent when I see that some of your loved ones left on 6/26! That's almost a week later and they are in the same PIR. Oh well, nothing anyone can control and maybe we will be lucky and not have to wait until the last minute to get the I'm a Sailor call. My niece called the day before PIR to tell my sister and she had already been traveling all day to get there without knowing for sure! I just wish I could get a letter. I'm not greedy, but the form letter is not telling me how he is doing! ;)

Our son is Ship 13 and Div 311 and he is from Lakeland, FL!
This is our 3rd son going through a Military Bootcamp.
Have already attended Marine Corps at Paris Island, SC and Air Force in San Antonio, TX. Looking forward to this Navy PIR on 8/23/13!
