rudy45 so happy you got another letter today...Thanks for posting the info about the phone call. I really hope they call tomorrow. I would love to hear my sons voice again. I send jokes in my letters too along with some local news stories that might be of interest. It's hard to carry on a conversation with yourself everyday. I try to let him know what's going on at home day to day so he doesn't feel like he's missing out on much.
I finally got two letters from Josh yesterday. I was so excited to finally hear from him. He mentioned in the letters that he is very homesick and misses everyone a lot. He also mentioned that they may get a phone call soon but wasn't sure how long it would be because everytime they get yelled at, they deduct X amount of minutes from their time. I can't wait to hear his voice either and am counting down the minutes until I get to see him. *Special thanks again to Dakota's mom (Josh's new best friend) for allowing my son to borrow her son for 8 weeks!! hehe.. Dakota has truly helped him cope with everything and I cannot begin to explain how grateful I am for that. :)
WOO HOO!!!! Just got off the phone with my boy!!!! It was such a wonderful 20 minutes or so to hear about everything he's experiencing. Too bad Dad was at work and missed talking to him. He isn't getting wisdom teeth yanked as they said 3 of them would be too difficult and to have them checked again when he gets to A school. Doesn't like getting cussed at. LOL I said he got cussed out at home by Dad. He said this was way more offensive. His division (268) has now had I.T. about 5 or 6 times. YIKES. They are on day 2-5 he says. It was so hard not to cry when my 9 yr old came running out into living room with my phone. I did good and waited until we got cut off at our time limit.
Hi Proudcomom
My son too will be a striker with ship09/div 268.
He was good but tried too... didn't have to get his wisdom teeth removed..
Said the division is not there yet.. not getting better. He said he made some good friends
Just so glad to hear his voice..
Hi ram33,
Good to know there is another striker mom on here. I didn't know what the heck a striker was until I looked into it last night. I'm kind of sad, knowing that my son will be on a ship right away for 12 straight months. Did you know any of this? The recruiter told us at most he would be on a ship for only 6 months. Not a happy mom today :(
Hi Proudcomom,
My son is going to A school in San Antonio next day after graduation.. I think he mentioned for 15 weeks.. not sure what his orders will be after A school.
I'm on pins and needels till graduation...
So Happy you ladies got to talk to your SRs! I am so upset! Brandon called and said hi then he told me he had 20 mins to talk... told me he was tired then the RDC came in there yelling telling them all to get off the phone! I had not even a 1 min phone call! So sad but am glad I got to hear his voice, but thats just wrong! And yes I know its a privilege for them to call but still...
Same here. Kevin called and said he had at least 15 minutes to chat. I tried to round up as many family members who were home to get on the phone. Only three (including myself) got a chance to talk w/ him. He sounded good and was settling in, but once I mentioned "home cooked meals" he started getting melancholy. He also said "send as many letters as you can, we are allowed to get as much mail as possible." I will be sending his address to everyone I know!
BrandonDiv267 so sorry to hear about your phone call. That is so sad...my heart goes out to you.
